I think the prices on the large Range Rovers are falling like a rock as gas prices rise. If anyone could provide Manhiem sales data on them I would appreciate it. I'm looking at 2006 non-supercharged large versions. Not the sport. Thanks in advance.

You should see how low 07 Escalades are if you want real value!

Okay Im curious...how low are Escalades ? Also Hummer H2 as I may pick one of those up if the low mileage/newer ones are dropping hard.

Why would you want one? As the great philosopher Jimmy Buffet penned about trailers in Key West, "...they are ugly and square and don't belong here..." . Add poor gas mileage and what do you have...a piece of fecal material shaped like a box!

They're honestly almost as cheap on eBay as they are at Manheim due to all the owners trying to dump them.

Thanks very much for the returned data. In a market that is falling this fast it really helps me know what is a fair price and what to offer.
The Escalades have been crushed too.

Even with them trying to change I would hate to be GM and Ford looking to replace the top line and bottom line on the big sleds they have.

Nice work, Frank. It only took you 35 minutes to pop in and post the same canned message that you so kindly share in every single SUV thread on this forum.

Which truth is that? That you don't like SUV's, or that others don't care?

No, that they're ugly and square and don't belong anywhere. What's gets me about the foolishness of an SUV are the people who buy one that only seats five...the same number you can seat in a nice sedan. Its one thing if you need to haul 6+ to a job site or have more than 3 children...but if you have a wife and only a couple of kids why shame and endanger yourself and your family being seen in such an ugly vehicle. Also, these ignorant parents that get their teens an SUV to drive thinking they're safer because they're so big. However, safety research is clear than a truck or SUV both have a much higher rollover risk, take longer to stop and have poor handling characteristics which are all especially bad for a teen driver still developing his/her skills. I have had a lot of clients who were the parents of dead and/or seriously injured teens as a result of being in an accident driving or riding in an SUV. Remember, friends don't let friends drive SUVs...

No, my wife bought a minivan after I finally convinced her to sell the ugly and square Infinti QX56 SUV. I figured I would take it step by step and get her into a nice sedan next.

Looks are quite subjective, so that's out the window.

Don't belong anywhere? Show me the sedan that can haul two Newfoundlands, a weekend's worth of gear, tow 3k lbs and cross a few creek beds on weekend outings in the woods.

While I think you’re right, you need to relax. Living in Boulder, I’m desensitized to righteous people offering opinions that weren’t asked for.

To your point, I just got back from camping for five days in SW Colorado. 3 people and a lot of gear, all of it used. The LR3 was full to the brim. In the winter it is four people, skis and huge gear bags every weekend. It is just tough to do that stuff in a sedan and I have a hard time with the gulag of a minivan. My wife actually does drive a sedan. My daily driver is a 996tt which I'm sure is a sin of some sort too. The great thing is, there are still a fair amount of personal freedoms in this country.

You're right. It just grates on me that Frank posts the exact same message in every SUV thread. Anyone that's been on Fchat more than five minutes knows his disdain for all things SUV, so I don't understand the need to continue with the comments. I don't like tarted up V-dub's, but I'm not wrecking his threads to say so.

Sorry to derail your thread. I'm better now.

Man, you got that right. I think if I lived in Boulder, I'd eventually snap and kill someone. I'm better off staying in Denver and just visiting Boulder for football games.

We went to the Sand Dunes last weekend. 4 people and all our food/gear for 3 days of camping in our SUV. Wouldn't have fit in a sedan and a wagon couldn't have gone where we went. To each his own Frank.

I have a 2007 Range Rover and I love it. I decided to lease it though because I figured its calculated risk as the depreciation is so bad. But as for the safety of them I believe that a car like a Range Rover is very safe. You could roll one but you would have to try pretty hard. I got rear ended in the RR a few month ago and the Range Rover just got scraped the Toyota on the other had was totaled. The reason this happened is because the Range Rover sits very high off the ground so Toyota hit the strongest part of the car and thus it was barley damaged.

I grew up here so I have a lot of practice.

I was in Marble, Ouray and Telluride. Crazy beautiful and no crowds. Hardly any people in fact. All rivers full to the banks. Got down to mid-30's in the tent Saturday night in Marble. Hope you had fun at the dunes. That's a great spot too.

Dunes was windy as hell. Not too hot, but just crazy wind, which made it less enjoyable than it otherwise would be. We still had a great time, though. The creek still has water, so the kids had a great time. We'll probably be heading up to RMNP for a couple nights in the next couple of weeks. Summer is my favorite time in the mountains.

Range Rusters are falling in value-not because of the price of gas, but because people are finding out they are a piece of @rap. As rr numbers in the US decline, so will the income of tow truck companies.

I have only had my Range Rover for about a year but I have not had any problems with it. They say that the current model is the first one they have built properly. I have had a 1996 RR that would turn its self on in the parking lot, one day it finally caught fire, but the new one is a lot better, you do not hear stories like that anymore.

It is not that they are finding out they are pieces of crap its just that have a reputation of being a piece of crap, much like Jag and today they are very high up on the JD power reliability ratings.

Speaking of RRovers, has anyone had any experience with a 2006 or 7 supercharged HSE? I found one in particular that is in the low 50's and looks great online but since its in Houston it is too far to check out so trying to get a pre purchase inspection done on it. And yes, I have a huge dog, pull trailers etc. so I need an SUV for the detractors!

    Thanks,

    Jeff

name one car that will survive a serious accident better than the full size RR....
I am on my second SC RR full size...I am getting above 16 mpg constantly....It is a 4.2..Litre

An escalade, a srt8 jeep or a suburban at 6 litres will not even get 10 mpg...and will fold in like a tuna can upon collision...

SAFTEY comes first...If you can afford it ....it is better than life insurance..
