I don't know if it's been suggested before, but i'll throw it in here anyway. I'd like to make it so if you put a user on your ignore list, their posts don't even show up as hidden. I've done it several times myself when I had imperial83 on my ignore list. I'd take him off ignore to see what he had wrote and trouble would start all over again. If someone quotes them, fair enough, but otherwise, I'd love it if you couldn't see anything at all, as if they never posted anything. As it is now, it comes up as hidden because user is on your ignore list.

Rob, not sure if these have been mentioned before, it's a long thread to read.

    1. Whenever someone posts a link to another post/thread in FChat and I click on it, it opens up new window and I have to sign on to FChat again. I'm using Firefox - is this an FChat issue or an idiotic user issue?

    2. Similarly, if I spend a long time reading one particular page, either because of a good story or a multitude of good pictures, when I click for the next page, I have to sign in again. Happens after 5 minutes or so. Again - a site issue or a user issue? (Edit - it just happened when I tried to post this)

    3. Since we seem to get a 'Hi, I'm new here, what do you all do for a living?' post every couple of weeks, why don't we set up a sticky thread somewhere to which we can direct the new member? People can post their occupation if they wish, but we'll only have to go through all that nonsense once.

    Great site, and thank you.

    Neil

On the "Politics and Religion" (not for weak of heart)

The proper expression is "not for the faint of heart." Just looks a little more like we know what we're talking about. Is that nit-picky or what? Yes, it is. Why? Because Fchat is that good, I love it here, outstanding place.

This is because the link is using a different base url than what you logged into. example... ferrarichat.com vs. www.ferrarichat.com or... thebestemployee.com, www.thebestemployee.com, ferrari101.com, www.ferrari101.com. Each of these take a different cookie, just make sure when you follow a link that you have the same base url as what you logged in.

When you login make sure to select Remember Me. If still problems, you need to make your browser cookie settings less secure. This may also help your problems for #1.

We have a new members thread, but with 1,200 new users a month we may need a new members forum. Thanks for the suggestion.

Okay, one more gripe: there should be a minimum of five minutes between an initial posting and the "last edited" note appearing.

I'm real anal about grammar and spelling, and also feel like a wierdo if I get the "last edited" note because I went back to correct some minor error.

    Hi Scott...

I agree 100%. Seeing my post in context makes the misspellings and typos, and I'd appreciate a little bit more time to correct a typo before being tagged as "edited."

Jonas - you have to understand their motivations.

Sometimes, guys share knowledge, then stir it up not for "fun" - but, as a means to an end. Classic "bait and switch"...

Their goal was to take members from F-Chat, by "baiting", then claiming they were victims. "If they're victims, then you must be, too." So, come on down to their site = "switching" = bull****.

Gus's site has been around since February, 2007, so, just as obviously, it wasn't a reaction on their part, it was an action.

We're not that stupid, and hope you aren't either.

Well, free booze would be a start.

After that, I'm thinking that we are past the family hour.

in FerrariAds, I'd like the max ads displayed to be all of a given section(say, 8 cyl cars) instead of a max of 24, which is way too short. Or, at least select a max of 100 or so. '24' harks back to dialup over a U.S. Robotics modem days.

Default of ALL ads pulled up would be nicest :)

X1000. I agree and believe the mods have been a little ban-happy lately. There are other ways to deal with threads or individuals who the "Powers That Be" believe to be out of control. You can delete posts, send warning PM's, or close or delete entire threads but I feel banning should be reserved for the most reprehensible and ongoing behavior. I do not see how mods can discern the motives of errant posters through the Internet. If the behavior continues through repeated warnings, deletion/closing of posts THEN a ban may be warranted. Believe me, I have seen mods go hammer-down in other forums and all it does is drive interesting people away from their site. Just me $.02.

Avatars are a fun part of the experience here. Some guys change theirs regularly, it would be fun if the avatar (and signature line) that a person had when posting would stay the same even when changed in future posts.

It would be fun to go back and look at the different choices over time.

    Rob,

Is there any way to search through my PM's by username or subject?

Can't figure it out if there is a way

I'd really like to comment on the responsiveness, thanks for listening to all of this.

Is it just me or has the 'login timeout' been increased to something like 15 or 20 minutes? I usually have to log back in every few but now it's much longer, and I like it quite a bit.

    Thanks.....this is really a top-quality place.

Would it be possible to have more than four upload boxes in the image upload window?

That would be nice also... Uploading maybe 10 pics instead of 4 at once. Even though you can upload 4 and 4 and 4, etc before posting them...
