First off, cars and stuff are not important, people are. This particular diablo was more a gift to me although I bought it. On L-power it is considered the unicorn. The L- power owner Alex Shen bought it new and it was flawless before the GT oem transformation took place including inside with all stock components saved and stored. I spent 3 years trying to buy it from him. I tried to buy the only orange gt car I new of 4 years ago but the collector would not turn it loose. This was as close as I could get. I have owned it 6 months and still have not taken full ownership of it because he had a very difficult time letting it go. It has made two events under my ownership and they were both by invitation from the Dallas dealership. I made both with hesitation because I am anything but a showoff and few people know I got it from Alex as I have left his plates SP-666 in place to this day. He owns and operates SP Engineering in California. My passion to defend a piece like this that I still consider to just be on loan increased 10 fold because I was doing it for the site and Alex. Its not a yellow sv that was wrecked and rebuilt with an ill fitting kit of some kind. There is a difference. Enough about that. I may have mistaken the less than complimentary remark made by lambo lover. I realized I was in error and admitted the mistake. Rob jumped to the wrong conclusion and flamed me and even with the thread closed, reopened it to outline with his own words and quotes taken out of context to make sure he had the last word. The biggest mistake was claiming I was misrepresenting Alex's car. Just as you guys had 10 times the fury defending a friend, Rob, when another challenged him to a face to face, so I did when my friend Alex's car was what I felt, being belittled. Rather than flame him anymore I demanded his remarks be removed and threatened tillman as well. Was I out of line? Of course I was. The passion to protect the car was full blown at that point. Is that the mentality of a person living in a trailer house, or a person who has received an inheritence? What do you think. I have forgiven those remarks and have emailed those who made them to tell them the same. I left a good paying job 13 years ago to start up my own business with nothing more than what I have saved. Spent the first 5 years working 18-20 hour days 7 days a week until I had the right staff and to this day still spend 8-12 a day. At least I have my wknds off to enjoy my family now and occasionally look or drive one of my cars. Some have not been driven in over a year. Respond any way you see fit to this thread but never judge a man until you know a little about him. You guys were right to dogpile me when I called your guy out. Of the remarks made to me, less than 1 percent of the guys making them would have made them face to face. I like to think that you should keep to yourself unless you are prepared to meet the recipient of your harsh remarks. If that puts me in the same catagory as a typical trailer house owner well.. Some of the best salt of the earth people I have known have nothing and 10 dollars to their name. Somehow these people seem happier and content than most of you and me. And they do not have the anger. I will not respond to anymore harsh comments. Billy Moss
Billy. I don't know you, but I know Rob and I know Tillman. both are good guys with strong opinions, as you seem to be. However, your previous rant, and follow up conversations and threats on the Lambo site belie what you're saying here. I'd be pleased as hell if you were serious and sincere, but based on what I read on Allan's site, how could anyone trust your posts here? If you think you operate in a vacuum, and what goes on there doesn't filter back here and vice versa, then you are sorely mistaken. It's gonna take months of perfect behavior here to wash the stink off your posts after your short ban. This first post isn't exactly a mea culpa, and doesn't really do anything to allay the fears of those who are here about your sincerity. I HOPE you're being serious. but, if you turn around and post a bunch of junk on the other site, then we'll know this is just another BS job. Dave M
I would not have wasted my time starting this post if I was not regretful for the remarks I made here and over on my site. Again, my anger was fueled until yesterday. I would consider the majority of the guys on the L-board to be friends, the others I dont know. And I knew that any of you guys could look as some of our members posted comments that you guys were saying against me. I doubt I will ever meet any of you short of the fine guys I met at the event but this is the best I can do. I care than just a little bit about what others see as my example. Thus the post. BTW, I asked Allan to delete the entire post I started over there and he did as it serves no one.
I am not distinct at what transpired in previous thread but I've met Billy in person, he had been to my house and I can attest w/o any trepedation that first and foremost, Billy is one of the nicest, classiest and non-confrontation person I have ever come to know. Secondly, he is a definite "car guy", one without brand bias and certainly one who takes tremendous pride in ownership of his cars. With that said, I am sure it is a simple case of emotion and pride get the best of everyone. I can't speak for anyone else but I would accept Billy's intended words as genuine. Best, formerly Tomf-1
The anger and the matter is behind us I hope. Im not looking for new friends as that takes years to cultivate however I do consider Tom as one. I just want you guys to know that i have made an strong effort both here and over there to put this incident to rest. And it is as far as I am concerned. I dont make board chatting a daily thing as you can see my post numbers are small but I do appreciate you guys being a team and sticking up for each other. BTW, I think alot of you still like Allan and I know he lets you know where you stand with him. He knows his exotics very well and a great person in real life.
Dave, my momma taught me that the right thing to say is apology accepted, not I think you are lying through your teeth. I don't know beans about what happened, not do I care. I just know that the number of times anybody has apologized (even half heartedly) on F-Chat can probably be counted on one hand. So don't look a gift horse in the mouth. If this guy does it again, just bust his ass. Dale
Na Moss is not a nut job.. I understand how pressure can build up and get out of control. Plus he doesn't know tillman or Rob as well as some of us do. My first few posts on this board were slammed with alot of rude comments and if I was under any pressure or in a bad mood I would of blown up as well. I have since met most of the local fchatters and found they are pretty nice. It takes a big man to admit he is wrong and apologize and I know Tillman and Rob are the type to respect it. I for one love his Lamborghini and can care less if it has after market parts, its still a diablo for heavens sake!.. and I don't even wear Ferrari socks
[QUOTE and I don't even wear Ferrari socks [/QUOTE] Are you sure you spelled socks right? Back in East Texas we spell that sox. Ha Ha Thanks
Must be SOP here. It is the test...if you can take the heat right out of the shoot then you can keep posting. All the folks I have met here have been good folks! James Austin, TX
+1 Now is that the way to foster trust within this group??? Your apology is accepted as to the aforementioned infractions and the most recent East Texas slam, though none was requested. Our (my) only request is that you fulfill your promise to be a respectful poster on this site.
I was born and raised in East Texas and my family still lives there. Most of my friends there have about 10 dollars to their name. The sox statement was an inside joke to Jason because I spelled it that way in that flame thread and he told me to learn how to spell. Still have alot of friends in the piney woods.
I mentioned a nice blog about a youth minister getting a ride from a Billy Moss. I thought it was classy, said so, and it sounded like someone had borrowed/stolen your account if that was you. You apologized at the end of the other thread, and I considered it done. I received a PM from you the day after your apology blasting me for my "intent" bring up the blog, and wanting to "meet" you to say whatever face to face. Evidently I'm not the only one who got such a PM. You couldn't receive PM's in reply, and I have no intention of calling someone who is itching for a physical confrontation when I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt. Lots of kids (school's out) grab parent's accounts and pull exactly the same thing. Since it wasn't an adolescent starting a belligerent thread or sending belligerent PM's, your previous apology rang hollow. It really doesn't matter to me, but I'll take your new comments here at face value. Glad you have a car you're proud of and enjoy. Looking at some of the cars in the garage in the blog, we share similar interests. Many people here have worked hard to get what they have, as did you. So let's "do unto others", fair enough? About all I have on this. Good luck.
Fair enough. My anger did get rekindled again after that first apology and it just got away from me. I am more into american muscle cars but love the diablo too.
I didn't follow this whole story from start to finish, and I don't know anybody named Allan, but this is how I see it. I don't think there is any reason to look down on the car, or you as an owner for owning it. From my perspective, the car sounds like it is as close to the real deal as you can possibly get. All it lacks is factory authentification. As I see it... big deal! Who cares! It's as close as most of us will ever get to seeing the real thing, and it practically is the real thing. I remember someone saying that one of those extremely expensive ($200k+) Ferrari P3/4 recreations was banned from entering Italian Carfest last year. I don't know if that is true, but it is just a shame to me. Zero tolerance on replicas just isn't fair. It would have been incredible to have seen. Back on topic... Everyone should enjoy your car and respect it. Especially you, who has every right to do so. Don't wear your heart on your shoulder Billy, people will say a lot of things on the internet that they never would in real life. Most of the time, because they don't think the owner of the car will see what they said. Other times, people are just misinterpreted, like the user who pointed out your car wasn't an official GT. He wasn't insulting your car, just pointing a fact out to show his knowledge.
Nice...but expected from you. Can't win them all but most of the ones that matter have already spoken either here or privately and I appreciate it. Thanks, Billy
Vivek, the pics you sent me are not of an ill fitting kit on a sv as I heard about on the other site. Yours looks quite nice and I would have it in a heartbeat! Thanks for sharing the pics, Billy
TR, it was a small inside joke about Ferrari socks, no harm done, ... Respectful goes both ways all.... ( I am not referring to TRscotty)
Do a search for Roland F40LM on Fchat and you will get a glimpse of why many of us are so adamant regarding correct representation of what a car actually is. We are a bunch of car geeks, and it is our passion to know the difference between an F40LM and an F40LM homage. I would have thought you would have the same passion and respect for what is factory and what is aftermarket, and therefore represent your car accordingly. Hell, there are guys here who know the serial number of a car just by looking at a picture of it. There are many cars that everyone will ask "Is that real?" 288 GTO, Testa Rossa, P3/4, etc. If any of those cars were at FoD we would have been over them with a fine tooth comb trying to determine if they are factory or not. I'm surprised you weren't prepared for the scrutiny.
I think there are three mag articles about Alex's car. What is there to hide? You need to check the car out. That being said, I have been there and I dont want to live in the world of car purest scrutiny. We have the same group on corvette forum and I have some NCRS vettes and 1 67 L88 clone with a real date coded 67 L88. No details missed on the GT update but the carbon GTR wing is a little stronger. There is no aftermarket parts on this car. All authenic oem. Did I do good this time? Hey, its a 6.0 diablo, who cares really? I feel like you on kit cars. This isn't the greatest priority in my life. I'll take it. BTW, are you an owner. Which ferrari/lambo(s) do you have? Thanks for your comments.
I'm with Dale on this one: accept his apology, and if he does it again, pitch him. He's entitled to a mistake, just not multiple ones, so use some good grace, accept his apology, and hopefully, he's learned his lesson. If not, he can be banned. Art
Art, I think unless history repeats itself precisely, then you have nothing to worry about. And it won't because it will not make another show. I have control over that Thanks for your comment though.
