Euro front spoiler on U.S. 308s?

They are out there. I know because I own one. A friend in Atlanta has one also. Both of our cars are 84's with 16's and the deep Euro up front.

I hated it so I swapped mine for a US front about 6 years ago (bought it on ebay). My old one is a nice big fat dust collector now

 

That is a great looking Car and is original.The deep spoiler is so quintessential to the design and you can feel it work at 80mph, the nose dips and cuts thru the air and is a big performance advantage at speed.

 

That car is beautiful and is in fact the original color combo I was after...Wish I was in the market .

To the original question there are two spoilers but there isn't a designated market for them, so there are lots of deep ones on North American cars, and many shallow ones on European market cars.......

It reflective of owner preference, or what was available for crash repair!

 

16" rims were the specification by the later QVs, as the dreaded 390mm experiment never really seized a market niche here in USA....

 

I think that without side areo treatment the euro spoiler looks out of place. The lack of the line continuing after the front wheel makes the spoiler look like an add on. You can see the difference with the 288 GTO which IMHO look mush better. Just my 2 cents

 

I tried living with it for about 5 years but enough was enough. No matter how careful I tried to be something always happened.

It is a fiberglass piece that is "supposed" to fit all years but there is SOOO much variation between bodies that fitting one is work. It's not like a Ford or GM replacement panel by any stretch.

 

BOY! You said it Tommy. I had to fabricate a "spreader" fixture to fit my GT Parts repo deep spoiler to my car recently. There was a 1.5" difference across the grill opening at the black belt line level.

 

I know and it's the craziest thing too.

You would NEVER know mine didn't come this way to look at it now but when we first put it up on there, well, it looked like it would have fit an MG better...

 

The Euro spoiler looks so good but gets damaged so easily, has anyone ever modified the Euro spoiler to be an inch or so shorter, to preserve the look but be more practical for the street ?

 

The aftermarket made pieces do have a poor fit..so "bolt on" is a very relative term..

I suppose since they have the mold they could split the difference between the two..

Truthfully I run three shallow ones on the street and they get beat to crap on our Houston streets, I lost the corner off one the other night dropping into a big hole that was filled with rainwater.....

I firmly believe that this is the way to go. Cut an inch off and it will still look normal as long as you aren't parked next to a real one AND more road room

 

I got my euro spoiler right off another 308 and it still needed some work to be fitted. That's just how things were built back then.

The black 308 in the auction is gorgeous! Love the red interior, too!

 

I have an 84 w. 16s and the euro front spoiler. I do not have the window sticker, but I have an invoice for the car when it was purchased. The Euro spoiler was a $595 add on back in 84. Not sure if the dealer added it to the car or it was shipped this way.

Does anyone have their original window sticker for one of these cars w. the euro spoiler?

 

I feel pretty certain that it simply came that way. Back then "options" were not something that most new Ferrari buyers checked on a pre-purchase sheet. They were basically just the way Ferrrari built them.

You could, however, option that Blaupunkt radio and rear ball speakers, though... I saw a lot of that back then
