Nope, that is Grigio Nuvolari from Maserati. Car was on line and in final finish area same time as mine. I had Silverstone in past on Superamerica, and it is darker. This is halfway between Titanio and Silverstone. Pretty car.

I am wondering whether in actual world it looks this much 'liquid metal' or whether it is just on picture? I am loving it.

Another member has a Grigio Nuvolari 612 and it looks quite a bit different in these photos- http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=189227&highlight=stereo

I'm not convinced that this is Grigio Nuvolari. Looking at pictures from Maserati's, a 612 and a couple of F430's I never see the "Liquid Metal" / "Smokey grey" effect on it and it is just that factor that makes this 599 look so amazing imo.

Maybe it has some type of film applied to it which creates the "smokey grey, liquid metal" effect. I don't know. However, SFumato seems pretty sure about it but are you 100% sure? I know, pictures can change the appearance of a colour drastically or the pictures may have been PS'd.

I would really like to find out because this has been haunting me ever since I've seen this. Just as I thought I had set my mind on Rosso Monza I see this. I know, RM is awesome on the 599 but this just gives the 599 such a mysterious look. The combo with the yellow brake callipers and the yellow shields ... mmmm.

So guys, any input is much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    M

Now it looks like the darker roof mirror paint like on Todt's 2tone car. His top was darker than the body. Really light sensitive. If it's a wrap, I need it. You can vary chrome look by changing base color, I think, as the metal paint picks up the underlying pigment. Cool over red.
Really looked like Nuvo in sun, but it isn't.

Looks like that's the one with a Carbon Fiber roof and Side mirrors. That's awesome.. Is that on option for the 599? or is that an option for the super-lucky ones?

There are several Merc S-classes, Audi Q7s etc. serving as taxis in the Monaco area...but I still have to see a Bentley Conti taxi :)

M, was that car a source of inspiration for you to spec your "former" HGTE ? The two cars have many things in common, although they have not the same paint.

Was indeed a source of inspiration to go with an overall grey tone look.

    Grigio Granito?

I don't think it's quite "liquid" enough to be Nero Setoso, and probably TOO metallic to be Canna di Fucile Metallico

If I recall correctly you were one of the first Fchatters to take delivery of a 599 back in 2006. Over the years you have posted some extremely positive remarks concerning the 599 which I have greatly enjoyed reading.
Out of curiosity, may I ask you if you still own her? Is she still treating you well?

I no longer have the 599. It remains the best car I have ever had. It did everything it was supposed to. It was a real daily driver, had a good sized trunk that I used, was comfortable, driveable and ridiculously quick. Its F1 transmission was as good as a single clutch tranny could be. The only issue I encountered was a faulty data screen which was very promptly replaced by the dealer.

If I get an opportunity to acquire another one I will do it in a heartbeat.

    Thank you for the reply.
I'm glad to hear that your experience with the 599 was positive until the end and that you parted in good terms :)
