He deserves it...Ron Dennis and Frank Williams are the last of a dying breed of true racing enthusiast as F1 team principals. The cooperate suits will soon control all of F1...

For all the hammering that Ron Dennis gets on these boards, his career in F1 has been remarkeable. He and Frank Williams truly are the last of a dying breed. Who do we have after them? Colin Kolles? Nick Fry? The Team Principal at Toyota this week?

I've been turned off by Ron Dennis in the last year. He lied about the spread of the Ferrari info within McLaren, he used the info, and made that rude comment about Kubica's nose.

I do have sympathy for him, his wife left him, I believe his brother died recently, and his team was fined $100 million.

They did but a kid at a copy shop caught McLaren scanning the stolen award.

He was the one who informed the FIA about the existence of those emails, knowing full well the implication for the McLaren organization, hardly the action of someone intent on perpetuating the scandal. I don't think he lied about the information, I think he was ignorant of the fact that it was being disseminated and/or used within his organization. His fault was not deceit, it was incompetent management. There's a big difference there, particularly in terms of culpability...though I am sure that distinction is lost on quite a few around these parts.

As far as the comment about Kubicka's nose, you must be kidding. It was a joke and taken as such by anyone other than those with an axe to grind. Get over it.

I thought the comment about Kubica's nose was very funny.

Don't think he expected the fine. Mad Max hi-sided him.

You say "I've got nothing to hide. Search my house." You'd better be sure what your wife and teenage son have been up to.

it was either he or Alonso who got there first, RD was in damage control mode

can of worms, don't wanna open THAT one again do you ??

let me say this, I met several McL technical personnel in 02 or 03 at the Aust GP away from the track who said "nothing happens at McL without RD knowing everything about it, he's a control freak"

I think he should be a control freak, it's his team, his money and his reputation , so to say he was ignorant of the fact is stretching it a "little"

he even "came out" later in the year and admitted it but please, go ahead, that African river is a great place to be :)

He deserves it. To deny his commitment to motorsports engineering and the developments McLaren have done to F1 in general would be pure idiocy.

As much fun it is to crack jokes about the guy, this is very true. Credit has to be given when credit due. I also think he deserves it, although I don't quite understand it, since he has not engineered or invented anything himself. I guess it is for his management part.

This is ridiculous! Couldn't somebody have put a SPOILER warning on this thread? I wasn't going to read about this award until the weekend. ;)

With all that has happened to Ron Dennis, recently, I 'm glad to see something good happen for him. He is still a human being, maybe a low life form of one, to many of us, and our opinion of him.

At least he wasn't in Mad-Max's Porno video, with the Nazi hookers!!! One thing the man did right!

    Ciao Everybody...Paolo
