stupende tutte quatro
That Tour de France is 0296MM; yet another period rebody sacrificed on altar of "originality". Best wishes, Kare
Perhaps some might enjoy a taste of these nostalgic pix taken during a visit to the Maranello factory in 1979 by Italian journalist and former Ferrari team manager Franco Lini. His photography is held today by The GP Library - including often quite superb colour and black-and-white from around 1962 clear into the 1990s, with the accent squarely upon competition, which he loved. The last photo shows the 1974 F1 cars, 312B/3 with the British Thompson-built monocoques and the slanting radiators. Funny, I keep expecting to see Pete Aron and Agostino Manetta come walking down.................... Paul M
Yes. I got the dvd for christmas and have watched it several times since. I ff through the soppy romance sections and watch the racing and ferrari factory shots. Great stuff! I got LeMans too and have watched it more times. tom W
Here is something I just bought on Ebay: an old Paris Match issue from October 1962 showing star actor Jean Paul Belmondo at 200kph, photo taken from the magazine's airplane: very cool. There is no article inside on this just the cover. Had to scan it twice as the magazine is huge much bigger than my scanner. A very nice image from a simpler happier time. Doug, Thanks for posting the Franco Lini pics. Now, maybe it's the eye deceiving me, but in the 2nd pic, with the Mondial buck, the 308 behind it (seen from front), is that already a preparation for a wide body? (Not the PF study car) Gotto love these old images, there's always so much unspoken history hidden within them.
These pictures were given to me by an old boss 20 years ago, but I'm not sure what year they were taken. Early 80s? Laguna Seca on the 250LM and the streets of Monterey for the transporter which says Western Motor Works? Bob Donner's 512 BBLM 29509 and 250 GTO/64 5575 sometime in the 80's. 250LM is Sellyei's 5843 with 0756TR also visible in the back ground. 275 GTB/C is 09079. Best wishes, Kare
Some of you might be interested in viewing this strange early chassis, S/N 024MB, on which G. Marzotto mounted his Uovo or Egg body by Fontana. These pix were taken soon after I liberated this unusual car from Harvey Schaub's widow in Feb. 1982. Harvey had cut the body from the chassis, intending to restore the car. Unfortunately, Harvey was, like many of us, possessed of more ambition and good intentions than time and talent. Here's another unusual early car that went through my hands: S/N 0012M. This interesting car was rebodied in the mid-50's by Scaglietti (the hood configuration was to allow for magnetos) and later had a Lusso engine and trans and midget locked rear-end installed. It was a tiny car, and a barrel of fun to drive, with 240 (?) HP and the rear tires chirping around every turn. Where is it now? Has it been brought back to orig? As short as I am, I stuck way out in the breeze in this baby. The biggest problem was getting the bugs off my teeth from grinning! Lovely pics Ed. That car shouts 'wind in your hair'. What an awesome machine to buzz around in. Can anyone tell me about this Ferrari and possibly the race it was participating in?....Thankyou Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is Herb McKay-Frazer in 735 Sport 0444M. I think the event to be Autumn International race meeting held in Aintree 03/09/55. I am sure someone can either confirm or deny the location. You can also see what I believe to be Schell in a Ecurie Francorchamps Monza. Best wishes, Kare
I'm gonna guess (dunno where my Monterey programs are right now), and say it was '84, and that Steve Earle was the driver of the yellow LM.
Nice photo, thanks. Redex Trophy at Castle Combe (Oct. 1, 1955) "Mac" came 4th. In the Monza, it's not Schell but Rosier with his own car who finished 2nd to Abecassis (HWM).
