any clue what happened to cause this accident? A few pics on the LeMans website during/after the crash, but nothing about the cause.

I hope the Peugeot qualifying speed translates into strong, reliable race pace. They have a very quick driver lineup with multiple ex-F1'ers.

No data-logging or telemetry on the car. So they're not sure.
Looks like it might race though. They've got the bits and a Lola guy was inspecting the tub.
AS says the team is hopeful of making the race.

Prat & Miller were duct taping cameras onto the vette earlier. They're going to put a lap of the track up on their site. If anyone is interested.

Not a Peugeot fan but this year I'm pumping for Marc Gene.
That guy has a big set.
To take that Peugeot through the Porsche Curves again, fast, wouldn't be easy.

Franck Montagny : "We can still improve... you never know what Audi is up to."

    Wednesday 11 June 2008 - 23h58

    # 8 Peugeot Sport Total - 908

Franck Montagny, second fastest in the first qualifying session of Wednesday says: “We can still improve”.

Frank Montagny only failed by two tenth of a second to snatch the fastet lap from Stephane Sarrazin, already poleman 2007. The new track record for the 13.629km thus still stands for the #9 Peugeot 908 Hdi FAP at nearly 247 km/h. Here is what he tells us concerning the car he will share with Ricardo Zonta and Christian Klien during the race.

“I think that the current limit for us is around 3:16, my fastest lap was not entirely clear, and we could certainly optimize the tyre configuration, but track conditions were really very good, and the car was very well balanced. You never know what Audi is up to, so we continue to work towards the race.”

Thank you very much, I am really having the time of my life out here. We have been working over here for just over two weeks at this point and it is hard to believe that I am getting paid to do it at all. I am trying to update the photos every day or so but as the race day gets closer it will harder and harder. As you can tell, we are here working for Audi so most of the photos revolve around that team. It is just crazy the size of this track in person, last night we walked a good mile along the inside of the the straight between Mulsanne corner and Porsche curve and we saw no one along the railing other than course workers. Hearing the cars drive off into the forest was one of the coolest sounds I have ever heard, it is really dark out there.

    Thanks!

I'm hoping my cable gets installed tomorrow since I know that speed does provide at least some LeMans coverage.

Just watched Steve McQueen's Le Mans movie (917 and 512 *drool*), ready for tomorrow now! Interesting to see the Peugeot being so fast. A lot of ex-F1 drivers in their cockpits! Let's see if they can keep the speed over the distance..
