Hi Jim, Thanks for the inspiration. I just did that on my 308's back lights. They came out AWESOME. I was especially not hapy with the tan one with white/clear inside. The white/ clear part looked - well just a little old. Regular dishwashing detergent (concentrated) and a small brush (not soft at all, I went scrubbing) --- difference was definitely there ... forgot to take before pics. I'd recommend this to all 308 owners. Made a huge difference,.
Did similar to mine the other day but tried a different route. Used soda water as recommended on a few forums to "lift" the gunk out. Didn't really do much at all to be honest. Then soaked them in laundry detergent. Now that did a fantastic job! Bascially put some laundry detergent (it was the powder) in a container, put the lens in, and viola, job done. You could actually see the gunk coming from the cracks in the lens. Needed a quick brush over with nothing abrasive afterwards (rate the toothbrush) and your lens look sweet. No pics but similar to Jims. Replaced all screws with stainless steel. Last ones had to be removed with screw extractor. Nasty. Happy days!
Its Friday morning. Just want to wish you good weather and good luck at the show this weekend Jim. Have fun and let us know how it turns out.
Jims gone radio silent. He must be in the garage installing all new rubber seals, new hose clamps, interior kit and buffing it again. You guys have created a monster with the encouraging posts ya know!
Amazing work, Jim - knock em dead this weekend! (And keep those wheels clean! ) As luck would have it, my father's day present this weekend is that I get to spend the whole day detailing the 328, and then take each of the kids for rides afterwards.
Thanks for all the kind words! I'm officially finished, well except for the touch ups at the show... Tonight I did the windows, polished the chrome door handles (inside) and the chrome door sill plate. TONS of oxidation there! The picture shows one door handle polished and one not. I really like the chrome polish pictured, btw. It does an excellent job! I also vacuumed everything out and loaded up the car with some chairs, towels, quick detailer, California duster and window cleaner. It just stopped raining and tomorrow looks to be 80 and SUNNY! There is a Coffee & Cars event prior to the show and judging by the response on the local enthusiast sites (Z cars, Pcars, RXcars, etc...there should be a great turnout then caravan to the show. Indy is 2hrs away from me. Hopefully I don't catch too many bugs on the way down. Good luck Jim ! I am sure that you'll have a blast either way. As much as I am enjoying the Mondial t cab -- I do miss being one of the GT4 gang. Ya never know, maybe I should buy Andrews Cavallino GT4! (although the old Blue Dino was nicer, still all original (Ansa exhaust), and LOWER MILEAGE!). Back to the point of this post. Have a great time. We had our concours event in Denver last week. Rain in the AM, and then sunny.
See, you shouldn't have left! Don't buy the Cavallino GT4, buy a good "Driver" and have some fun with it!! So did you take the T Cab to the concours event? JIM
Car show was a hit. Great turnout and I got to meet a bunch of FChatters! Didn't win anything which is fine because I didn't expect to, although I did get lots of comments from the judges as well as the spectators. The car ran flawlessly down there and back with the exception of a starter issue that I have creeping up. (Wouldn't start in my In-Laws driveway...twice now in 1 week. ) Thanks again for all the comments in this thread as I got the car ready.
