Ok guys, here are the details for the Wrightwood Lunch Drive on Sunday June 29th:

The drive will start from the meeting place, the Coco’s Restaurant parking lot on 10521 Sunland Blvd in Sunland (exit Sunland Blvd. from the 210 fwy, head north, left side of the street).

The drive will proceed up Big Tujunga Rd. through the Angeles National Forrest to the backside of Wrightwood (via Mt. Emma Rd./Fort Tejon Rd.) to have lunch at Cinnamon’s Bakery & Sandwich Shop (1350 Highway 2, Wrightwood 760.249.5588). The owner of the shop is a car guy who used to fabricate hot rods before making tasty cinnamon rolls and sandwiches. This is an ideal place to stop for lunch since there is ample parking for over two dozen cars at the shop, something that is not common in Wrightwood.

After lunch, we have a few options:
    • Proceed up the backside of the Angeles Crest Hwy, a 15 mile stretch to the closed gate before the Eagles Roost picnic area. It’s a nice road that I used to run on sport bikes but there are few guardrails, many steep drop offs and some areas typically have gravel/rocks,
    • Double back to Sunland or
    • For those living in or near the Inland Empire or Orange County can leave Wrightwood and proceed east to the 15 fwy and head home.

Please meet at the Coco’s Restaurant parking lot at 8:30 am, the group will leave at 8:45 am sharp! Also please gas up before, there are a few stations on Sunland Blvd., north of Coco’s.

If you are interested in participating, please post up or PM me so that I can maintain a count and inform the sandwich shop owner of the size of the group.

    Thanks, Todd

I'm down to go. I'll send out an email, to see if anyone else is. But isn't the road through Angeles to Wrightwood still closed?

Hey Dilan, yep you're right Angeles Crest Hwy to Wrightwood is closed, but I'm talking about taking the "backside" route to Wrightwood via Mt Emma rd., Fort Tejon (150+mph) staright road, Valerymo Rd., etc. We passed Mt Emma rd turnoff on our last drive at the end of the Angeles Forrest Hwy.

+1 on the Valentine. I don't have one but my friend does and swears by it. He's always driving fast and has a long daily commute to work and it has saved his butt many times. Magazines have also given it good reviews in the past. Noisy though.

Sorry to hear about the ticket, was this the front or backside to Big Bear?

Hey if you ever want to take a quick drive up to Lake Arrowhead, let me know. We are relatively close to each other.

POSTPONED. This past Sunday I took part in the Porsche Mt. Palomar drive and it was way too hot. Cooling fans remained on for long periods of time after stopping. It is predicted to only be slightly cooler this weekend. I know how you Ferrari guys don’t like the heat:), I think things would be better when it cools down a bit.
