Hi, I just bought an 82 308 and it has an add on rear roof spoiler like the Quatro.
How is this usually attached to the sail panel? I'm not sure if I like it on the car or not.
I guess I'll have to go stare at it some more!!! Sorry, after I posted, I found the answer!
    Thanks-

It's probably a factory-installed item and an original part of the car.

Did they offer this as an option in 1982?

Thanks for the photo Eddie, sweet ride:)

For what I understand the spoiler is an optional item.

It was NOT on that car new. It began as an "option" on the 308's in 1983 with the intro of the QV

Someone else painted your hood vents black too.

Looks like a previous owner wanted the QV look - minus the bonnet vents, though, so he was adding and painting...

You need to get your driver's door aligned -- looks like it's sagged a bit. ;)

The door was slightly ajar when the photo was taken.
I know that the car was repainted. It will be redone at my work facility. We actually painted a plane for Enzo himself.
You can see pics at ttusa.net.
I've seen many 308s with the front louvres done in black. Is that incorrect for an 82?
Either way, I bought this to drive it, not show it. I like the black vents but I'm thinkin that the rear air deflector may have to go.
On the other hand, it does seem to provide additional shade to the interior.
I'm going to go through the car mechanically first and then worry about the small details.
    Thanks for your input-

Yes, it is incorrect for an 82

No black was EVER painted on those things before 1983 by the factory. It was a cosmetic change on the QV model and the US market.

Tommy, I think you are right about the factory not doing this. That said, I am pretty sure that some dealers did it to some 2Vs... I saw a 1-owner 1982 308GTSi that was purchased new with both black louvers and the spoiler.....but I am sure it was dealer installed and not factory. I bet some dealers did it to spruce up old stock after the QV's came out... I am almost positive that some 1982 308's were purchased this way..

Hard to say what a dealer did back in the day but for sure it left Italy without the spoiler and with red paint on the vents

I agree. You would surely lose points at a concourse to have an '82 with those additions whether it was purchased that way new or not....

You know what I personally like? Those black A pillars. The GTS's all had them up until 84. I think it goes well with the black top.

But that's just me. I suppose that is partly why I love a red tan 81/82 308 GTSi the most.

You always remember your first and I remember exactly where I was the very first time I saw one in the flesh back in the spring of 82. An 82 red and tan...

    Tommy ,
Was the front deep spoiler offered in 82 on the U.S.cars?
Again, my intention is to drive it, not show it. With that said, I may also swap out the rims/tires
    for something else-

Those were factory here and there from time to time.

You should go 16's with the wheels.

An interesting aside -- many people have gone on record saying that the 246GT never left the factory with the Ferrari emblem on the rear deck. We have an original owner of a 246GT here in WA and he picked the car up at the factory. He also has a picture of the Ferrari employee putting the Ferrari emblem on the back (it stays in the photo binder in the car, so the car (whose owner is a Pebble Beach judge) is never without documentation of this non-standard item.)

They were never 'painted black' from the factory, they were anodized.
