Coming up to a stop sign on a uphill I down shifted at the last moment since the hill gets very steep quickly. I seemed to confuse the F1 system. It started beeping like it does when you turn of the key and did not seem to want to go into gear. I shifted into second and it seemed OK but did it again at the next stop sign. I restarted the car and it seems to be fine now. Is this just a situation of the computer being confused until it is reset by starting? Has anybody else had this happen to them?

Take it to the dealer for a check up. Yes, this is common when there is an issue with the F1 System. It's generally an easy fix, but DONT wait, get it looked at right away. I don't know how many miles are on your car or how long you've owned it, but do not worry.

Cool, I figured I would bring it in this week. It has 24k miles but it is still under warranty so it should not be a problem.

Also, make sure they check the percentage of clutch life you have left. At 25K miles it my be time for a new clutch depending on many factors.

Great to hear you are driving the car. I can't tell you how tiered I get of people thinking that an F car with more than 5K miles on it is worthless.

Thanks, I bought it as a high mile car with 22k on it a few months ago with the intention of using it as a daily driver for the two years I could by the extended warranty. I bought the PowerCube warranty so I would not have to worry about anything. So far it has been great. With what I expect to lose on the car when I sell it in two years, it works out to about 20k per year for the privilege of having a F430 as a daily driver. 2005 coupes are really a pretty awesome deal right now in terms the amount of car you get for the money. Not much different than buying a BMW 7 series.

Talked to the dealer today. They had just seen my car recently so they knew the condition of the clutch. They felt in my circumstance it was just a case of the computer getting confused and it taking a few cycles to get it under control again. I guess the bottom line is shift when it is in gear and not when it is already shifting. I've driven it for about three hours since the incident with out a problem so it looks pretty good. Thanks for all the input.

Interesting...mind if I ask what you paid for an '05 430 with 22k miles?
