Are the expensive jeans really worth it (even at the $50-$70 price range)? What justifies the added value?

i have a mix of fashion jeans and regular jeans. i like the fit more and the feel of fashion jeans (rock&republic, monarchy, seven, gucci, prada,d&g etc.)

so i would say that when i want to look nice i wear those when i dont care i wear the other ones, and i dont know what justifies the added value. like many things, the name.

Ordered a pair of Nudie jeans on Wednesday! $166 USD shipped, should be another 14% to get it to the doorstep. Looking at around $200 all said and done!

But they're fantastic jeans, stylish, durable and comfortable. Made with dry denim, so you wash them about twice a year, and they develop a personalized wear pattern the longer you wear them.

Can't wait for them to arrive! :D

Heres what they look like after a little while:

    And heres them new:

Wow, I feel ripped off paying $50 for jeans. I usually pay around $30 though.

I have a pair of Versace, TR, 2 pairs of seven for all mankind, juicy couture, nudie, and a few others. That price for nudies isn't bad milky man, mine were over 225. Its called selvage denim, and as you said the wear pattern becomes specific to your body, as "honeycombs," form behind you knees. Areas of wear lie the upper thigh area, and knees will also wear and change in distress/color. My nudies are died with indigo, so i have to watch for them bleeding onto shoes, bedspreads, etc. One pair of my sevens is indigo died as well. I think they're much more comfortable than the a&f/hollister pairs I have, and are worth the premium they usually command.

I am surpirsed that not more people on here are wearing nicer jeans... I bought 2 pairs of $300 each ANTIK DENIM jeans in south beach last fall and I don't regret it at all! They have some studs on the front and back pockets and look awesome... They are very different from the normal jeans most people wear and that is why I love them. The chicks looove them, and make compliments about them all the time... They are pretty flashy but when you pair them with a nice shirt or T-shirt and great shoes, you have an awesome outfit! My wife has rock and republic jeans and a bunch of 7 for all mankind, D&G so it was about time for me to buy some nice jeans myself! They are comfortable as hell and was up great - very soft denim and they look like the day I bought them.

I never understood though why people would pay $350 for plain looking, nerdy cut D&G jeans where all you really pay for is the little D&G leather tag that nobody sees...

I also have a bunch of the affliction t shirts, hoodies, and other "rock n roll" style couture t-shirts with rhinestones and bling! love it! :)

I think $49 is the most I ever spent on jeans, at Gap. I was never into jeans really, I prefer cargo pants and soft khakis.

I agree with you on how amazing Antik Denim is but I resent your comment about D&G jeans :)
Granted, I didn't pay near $350 for them, but they fit great (I have "Power" fit) and they are even lighter and more comfortable than my Antiks.
I'd wear them every day if I didn't have a whole jean collection to rotate through :)

I pay $30 for jeans at Old Navy. I cant get my head around 'mens fashion' ...its an oxymoron to me.

Clothing should be comfortable and disposable.

I have to admit to having a closet crammed to the gills with Rock & Republic.. but since the g/f works there it's a bit easier on the wallet.

I'm sort of glad I did not buy those Affliction jeans. The day I saw those, I bought a pair of Levis low boot cuts in a 36 waist. 36 was sort of loose on me at the time. These jeans now I can't even keep around my waist anymore. I'm at least a 34 at the moment and headed for smaller. THAT right there is my big problem with spending a boat load on jeans. I've lost 52lbs since October of last year. Probably 5 or 6 lbs since I started this thread.

FWIW, I just put over $3,000 worth of dress shirts and slacks in the back bedroom closet because they don't fit me anymore. I had to idle my favorite, less than 1 year old $700 sport jacket as well. I now only have 4 dress shirts and 4 pair of dress slacks that fit me. I'm glad to lose the weight but it's expensive. The good news is I fit into Banana Republic medium shirts - that's something to be proud of IMO.

    :)

Normal Levi's jeans are like $50 max, that in itself is great but; Vintage Levi's and Limited Edition Levi's Collaborations blow away any price you pay for designer jeans...

D&G seems to be extremely expensive in comparison to other "designer" jeans.

its just "high fashion" ... when you buy a pair you are virtually exclusive to that pair, and there is no other pair exactly like it, even if it is the same trouser design, yours will have individual differences from other copies. With general designers, they produce copies of the same exact pairs for mass trade - so they're cheaper, but still "designer"
