It seems both 0118A and 0124A lost the original wind shield set-up while in California. As people don't usually throw Ferrari parts away, it is not at all unthinkable that one of these set-ups got re-installed into 0124A.

Your original post mentions owning the car in 1957...the ad is from 1954 so that tracks with the car having lost the original windshield at some point before your ownership. Or am I missing something here?

I believe Kare is 100% correct on this.

I have not seen any photos of 0124 showing the two small lights on either side of the grill.

I have found his absence very interesting als. Especially since several people have pm'd and emailed him specifically about this issue. Could it be because he know nothing about this one and can't bring himself to say that???

I think it is 0124A and not 0124 that Kare is zeroing in on.

Supposedly he has been moving. This has been going on for several months and so far I haven't found out where he moved to or anything else. He seems to go into hiding from time to time.I also will look forward to his return. Tongascrew

The windscreen change is easily explained, as is change in the lights (both front and back). It was originally a competition car, with a cut-down competition windscreen that wouldn't work for a street car. Someone buys it and wants to drive it on the street, so off comes the competition windscreen and on comes the Jag windscreen because that's what's readily available. It won't pass inspection without turn signals and rear lights, so the lights are added. A subsequent owner wants to use it for its intended purposes -- competition -- so he contacts one of the small group of people in Southern California who, at that time, worked with Ferraris and sources a competition windscreen (maybe it's the original one, maybe it's one from another car) and has the lights removed. The only way to know for sure is to inspect 0124 and see if there once were holes on each side of the grill.

My post is either 0124a or 0124 whatever the correct number of the "said" car is? Anyone know the owner?

Nice photos, Ed. With 0118 out of the picture and 0124 with many questions, where are we???? In the five months that we have pondered this question, there is still no real answer. If M.M. would respond the answer might be forthcoming. Thanks to all who have contributed. George

For more than two months ago we were able to confirm that your car was 0124A. Now if that isn't a real answer there will never be one. Best wishes, Kare

Marcel did answer my e-mail this morning. He has no idea about the ongoing thread, and to be honest is probably unlikely to in the very near future either. I think the man is enjoying his privacy at the moment, and i for one totally respect that.

    Great photo find!
Looks like they hadn't put the Ferrari script on the side at that stage.
