Are you sure you don't have to offer it to your dealer first? Sorry I'm not making fun. I have spent some time today reading thread about your dilemma with your deal and the 430S. Beatuiful car!

    Very nice Joe.

An F40 you can use without fear of mileage depreciation, not to mention one of the best-sorted.

It definitely is well sorted, Joe. I have seen it and it is beautiful. However, it seems the market for cars over 5000 miles is softer as the sub 5000 miles cars are plentiful, and deemed collectible. I have a 23,000 mile F40 which I love to drive, but wouldnt dream of selling it to a collector. Years from now, it won't matter, but in today's market a sub 5000 mile car is definitely not one to be driven, just bought and stared at.

16 years on from the F40 having ceased production when would you deem mileage to be less of a factor?

daytonas with less than 20,000 miles are considered low mileage these days. They were made in the late sixtees, early seventees. they are almost 40 years old...actually, mileage matters little now as far as they are concerned, the quality of the restoration being much more important. If I had a crystal ball, I would guess F40 would be less likely to be affected by mileage considerations in 2030? Heck, I am sorry, but my crystal ball just got very cloudy. Both cars were produced in more or less equal numbers. I don't think I will be around to find the answer. :)

heck, one F40 was driven less than 700 miles in five years...what a great car to buy and look at; what a shame if not driven. But Ferraris are investment, I guess, at least when it comes to F40's and supercars. I bid on an F40 last year which was sold at auction with only 680 miles or so....absolutely unbeleivable. There is one with a couple of hundred miles in CA right now. I think I need to build a glass wall and an adjoining room to my den so I can see a car that is so wonderful, if I can't drive it.

One American owner back in the 1990's tore down a wall in his living room. He parked his brand new F40 next to the piano and restored the wall for years of at least visual enjoyment.

I remember that article. It was in Prancing Horse or Cavalino. The guy was a contractor in NJ. He tore down the wall to get the car in then rebuilt it. Would have to tear it down again to get it out.

Was silly then and is silly now IMO. Or probably I'm just not rich enough.

Man I've seen plenty of F40s, but for some reason yours looks incredible. Maybe it's the photos. If I had the means, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Good luck!!

That F40 had been in the FOW shop for some minor maintenance as I understand. No stories to my knowledge. There are actually a couple of F40's in the Wash DC area, including one owned by Alie Ashe the owner of FOW. To his credit he regularly drives his F40 on gatherings and such, I believe he has 30k miles on the odometer! Good for him!
