I know a longshoreman in Long Beach who explained to me about how cars are loaded onto ships. He told me the only the best union drivers in the port are allowed to do it because of liability and cost issues. The same fellows drive on cattle trucks, jeeps, Ferraris, tractors, etc. etc. Everyone want the job because it is easy compared to others on the docks. Therefore, the best people available are handling your car.

That article is completly wrong. the cars are not driven onto ships by anyone.

The cars are loaded at the factory into specially fitted containers (4 cars per container), containers loaded onto ship and unloaded at port newark where they are unloaded, removed from the container, inspected and shipped via enclosed transport to your friendly neighborhood Ferrari dealer.

    Regards, Jim
