With the economy in the dumper and getting worse, highline cars often flood the market. Everyone knows Ferraris are soft right now, but give it a few months - until summer driving passes - and there are going to be some unbelievable deals out there this fall.

I predict that solid 355s will touch the high $50s, solid 348s will see the mid $30s, 328s the low $30s, and the 308 lineup deep into the $20s, depending on the year.

If you're on the sidelines, get ready - the sale is coming soon!

Let me guess...you don't own one?
Most non-owners think that way.I don't agree and bought mine 3 or 4 months ago.
Either way, if you can afford one, buy it and if you can't, don't.

I own one or two and I think EVERYTHING will come down quite a bit.

That said I also think that the Day the Revolution starts the Dow will be at it's all time high.

The time to worry is not when other's are panicking but there's a bit of Bloodletting yet to come.

    Well,

    This is a surprise.

    Hard times=softer prices.

Add in Low Dollar=HIGHER new car prices and you may not see quite the softness you expect.

Take Mini- they're selling their cars overseas right now because the dollar is sooooo soft. Used mini's are fetching stellar prices.

Low end Ferrari buyers looking for a deal are gonna get stuck with poorly maintained cars owned by folks on the ratty edge.

There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. TANSTAFL.

I hate to break it to you, but the sky is not exactly falling - much of the doom-n-gloom in the economy is based on speculation. Yes, there are lots of people who made terrible financial decisions recently, who wildly over-extended themselves financially in Real Estate, vehicles, and other toys. Stupidity should be painful, but none of this is 'fatal'. People will learn, correct their spending habits and financial choices, and 'get their money right'. Those who are 'breaking even' will hold tight.

A shake out of speculators, flippers, strivers and swells from the used Ferrari market would be "a good thing".

Yes and No. China and India are really growing and using energy which will keep upwards pressure on energy prices in the US.

As the price of gas remains high things will shift. Read the survey in Auto Week about the sediment shift on "Sports Cars". It is very real and may get worse. This will have an effect on prices of the cars we Love. Politically anything can happen. Would you bet your kidneys that the 55mph limit won't come back? How about "Luxury Taxes"?

Fatal? I don't think so but will there be a real change in the world as we know it? I think a cold wind is blowing in from the North.

We are headed for a severe recession, maybe a depression. However, people got rich during the depression. If you've planned for it, you stand to gain. JimG (Napolis) suggested oil stocks a while ago. If you'd listened to him, you'd have almost doubled your investment. Money is going to get made in this downturn.

Having said that, prices may go down on the lesser cars, but remember, Ferrari has reduced the allocation for the USA because they aren't making any money on the cars sold here. Don't expect the prices to drop dramatically, at least not for a while. If this continues for more than a year or so, then, and only then, will you see dramatic price decreases. These cars are generally owned by people at aren't directly effected by small swings in the economy. Large swings are another story.

As for the collector cars, don't expect the GTOs to drop, maybe the 275GTBs will see a price correction, maybe Lussos will drop a bit, but they will come back. There is a limited number of them, and sooner or later they will go back up.

There's always some agenda with posts like this. It's usually someone looking to buy cheap.

The market will continue to soften. Good cars will always fetch the higher end of respective market values. Not sure when the economy will turn in the US but we seem to have a lot of problems right now that won't be resolved any time soon. Pricing on toys is all relative especially when times are tough.

I sure would like to see a 599 or a SCUD at MSRP.
We see these "doom and gloom" posts every so often on all the forums i look at.
These guys should probably be out getting a second job and not posting :)

Agenda? Somehow I really don't think FCHAT musings will push the market one way or another.

I believe Husker believes what he posts. I agree with him, others don't. No More. No Less.

MSRP. 599's and 430 spyders. There are cars that were ordered that customer's are not taking delivery of and that are being sold at msrp. by dealers. This weekend.

If you are familiar with Husker, he always seems to buy his Ferraris cheap, but they are not crappy cars. I don't know what 'agenda' you are referring to, but it appears you think much more highly of yourself than you do of others!
I think this thread is an advertisement for lurkers and others that seem to always be on the sidelines that it is time to get the lines in the water, it appears there is some good fishing coming up shortly!
    :)

So far as I know new Ferrari's are offered for sale by Authorised Ferrari Dealers. I believe there are four in your geographic area.
The path seems clear to me.
