Very nice, thanks for sharing those fine pictures with us. Is that a fuel filler cap wired shut? I am wondering under what circumstances they would use that feature? Tom W
Great pictures. Tom I've been told the safety wire is for Le Mans but it would also make sense for sprint races. Unfortunately, for some reason, I cannot print screen to get the image but here is a link showing an Allard J2X with a brass ring for safety-wire on the filler cap. www.1952allard.com
The Le Mans tabs were for Scrutineers to put a seal through so that you couldn't add oil before you were allowed to by Le Mans regs. The safety wire is simply for safety.

Good to see that the restoration is making progress and after finally seeing the French blue on 0556(0446) MD, I can only say one word: BEAUTIFUL!! Best regards -Kevin
What a wonderful, revealing photo of the hand workmanship typical of Ferrari of the Fifties! Thanks for sharing it with us. We see so many photos of the seamless mile deep paint on finished show cars this is a delightful contrast! Tom W
Thanks, it's my pleasure to share them. Here are a couple more. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
