just heard he died, rest in peace, although i will say his early stuff was good, but i went to one of his shows a couple of years ago, and a lot of his jokes were on teen suicide, not a great topic for a comedian.

Man, that is a bummer. George Carlin provided so many laughs for such a long time...

RIP George. In his honor, all seven words should be fair game on TV today.

1st host of SNL...I did not know that.

I liked his work. He was a thoughtful guy and his work showed it. I liked his earlier work than the last little bit. It had a little harshness to it. I liked his skit when he was repeating "Not in my neighborhood". That's when he came up with the idea of building public housing on golf courses. I also remember the one about "a good sport". When his pregnant partner called and said if he didn't marry her she would kill herself. Carlin said "My, you are a good sport".

One of my two favorite comedians...the other was Sam Kinison. Sad day.

Just heard the news on the radio. Only 71--he was definitely one-of-a-kind. Thanks for all the eye-opening laughs! Rest in Peace.

I'm glad I finally got to see his act a couple years ago when he can to Bass Hall in Ft. Worth, back in the late fifties he worked as a DJ here for a couple of years.
Carlin claimed it was the only job he wasn't fired from, had some great stories about the beatnik scene in this sleepy western town called Ft. Worth.. He will be missed.

It is a loss, but to me, Carlin stopped being as-funny years ago. He became this bitter, anti-everything (especially God, and those who believed in God), and it just got to the point where I stopped watching him. I'll remember the earlier days as his best.

I have the old vinyl 33 of "The Class Clown".....Remember his take on the "under the arm f*rt" trick...........Loved his work back then, recent works not nearly as much.......But I can still quote the 7 words you cannot say on TV in order and up to his speed........

And his drug act on "Where did you get that sh*t man? What you gonna do with the sh*t? Wow, cool man".

And then his stint as the conductor on the Thomas the Tank Engine series.........
