I think it will boil down to pricepoint.. at 130k I will probably go gallardo.. if I find a steal of a 360 for 100k or less that is mechanically sound.. it might cause me to go the other way and get the 360..

^ maybe test drive each, that should clear it up. as there are people that love the 360, and people that love the gallardo. the 360 is gonna cost you with belts which is one reason I don't like the old ferrari's.

I have driven both.. and I think both are awesome cars..

the belts I don't mind that much.. remember belts are once every 30k miles or 4 years.. I have a mechanic that does them at 1/2 price.. and 4-5k is nothing every 30k miles for a belt service.. I do plan to drive the cars so getting a garage queen is a bit pointless for me.. so I would be looking for a 30k mile car with it's service done..

I must say I'm surprised to hear so many people vote for the Gallardo. As a owner of both an '05 Gallardo e-gear and '00 360 F1 simultaneously 2 years ago, in my opinion there is not contest. If you are looking for a driver's car, one that you'll enjoy every time you get behind the wheel, it's the 360 hands down. Here are some of the things I noticed about both cars:

    Gallardo pros
    -Head snapping looks
-500 hp and a bunch of torque
    -Audi ergonomics
    -Awesome on the track

    Cons
    -German feel
    -Audi interior
    -clunky transmission and power train
    -numb, stiff steering
    -uncomfortable seats
    -tight interior
-seating position and view of the road is poor
    -Visibility in general is poor
-all wheel drive (doesn't give you the same pull a rear wheel drive does)
-exterior fit and finish. I never understood why everybody raves about the quality of the Gallardo build. Spend a day washing that car and you'll see all the panels (front rear bumper) feel cheap and creak as you put pressure. The plastic rear grill drove me crazy!
-Interior fit and finish - when the car is brand new it looks tight but after 10k miles, starts rattling and flexing
-reliability is another area where I don't see why people rave about this car. Within the first 2k miles, I had to take the car in 3 times to resolve the check engine light issue. The clutch will blow quickly if you don't drive it carefully being an all wheel drive.
-maintenance cost are equal if not higher than the 360. (clutch at FOW cost me $8k+)

    360
    pros

    -timeless design and beauty
    -light weight
    -perfect engine
-power (plenty of it if you know how to drive the car)
    -quick revving engine
-one of the best sounding engines in the world with the right set up (recommend Tubi/Capristo more aggressive with Hyperflows or test pipes.) This is a critical factor. It really makes the driving experience 100% better than stock
    -interior ergonomics
    -comfortable seats
-perfect seating position with nice view of the road
    -almost no blind spots
    -beautiful communicative steering
    -Adjustability of the suspension setting
-well built. I have 27k miles on the car. The car feels just as tight and strong as the day I bought it with 9k miles 2.5 years ago.
-Could drive to any high class function and feel comfortable (Lambo is too much)
.....and a whole lot more that I won't list but you get the idea

    Cons
-A little short in power by today’s standards
-Not as confident on the track as the Gallardo
-Not as eye catching as the Gallardo
    -Belt service
    -Maintenance cost

I'm sure there are plenty of items I missed for both cars but these were some of the significant ones. I've always felt that I drove the 360 for my enjoyment where as the Gallardo was more for other people's enjoyment.

    Good luck with your decision!

    PS
I still have the 360 but my Gallardo was gone after 8 months.

Very well said and thanks for the information!

Do you really feel the gallardo is more eye catching than a 360? I would say it's a toss up... from my experience at least they seem similar in the "curb appeal" department

Those were my thoughts exactly as an owner of both the Gallardo and 360. Nicely said! As for more eye-catching, I think I got more looks in the Gallardo. It just looks more exotic (mine was orange, could have been that). However, the 360 is no slouch in the looks department! I personally think the curves of the 360 are timeless. The Gallardo hard lines took a while to grow on me.

I really liked the 360 Modena but I have yet to actually drive one. I do like the Challenge Stadale and I think it has more bang for your money. I drove the Gallardo Superleggera and I really liked how the car handle. Plenty power, lightweight and is easy to drive. However I wasn't a fan of the interior too much as it was a little cramped and couldn't really use it as a daily driver. But then again, I drive an S2000 everyday so I could get used to it. I think it's gonna come down to personal preference. As far as price is concerned I'd pull the trigger on a Gallardo. I'm still intent on an F430 or a 360 as my first exotic, but man are those Gallardo's getting ever so more close to my price range. I'd say get both if you can.

Probably because Ferrari owners get tired of answering the same question every 3 months and skip the thread....question always gets a high reply and read count though.

You refer to the Lambo in the past tense, but the 360 in present tense. Have you also let the Lambo go and kept the 360?

I have also heard that Lambo dealers are easier to work with than Ferrari. Any truth to that?

Yep, let the Lambo go and kept the 360. I literally drove the 360 more my first month than the lambo in 6. Like previously mentioned, I feel as though I can drive the Ferrari anywhere. The lambo was just too flashy and uncomfortable.

Not sure what you mean by easier to work with... both dealerships are equally willing to overcharge you for repairs :)

This is Ferrari Chat - right ???
When looking for my first exotic I was looking for more than speed etc. (I had a porsche and there was not much actively regarding gatherings etc.) I was looking for the total package. A real brotherhood. At that time my interactions with the Lambo group was limited and most of them are extremely cocky and a younger crowd.

The lambo's seem to me to be disposable in the sense that you hardly seem classic lambo's at the car shows. The Ferrari brings the true meaning of red in your blood and you see all types of ferrari at the shows. Most ferrari owners are true enthusiast and get what they can afford. Most of the guys with higher end ferraris have always been very friendly and eager to discuss the brand, etc.

I ended up getting a Ferrari and have never looked back. AND where the hell am i going to drive the crap out of it ??? Trust me the ferrari is an amazing car - PERIOD. The lambo is also amazing.

The 360 has enough power for me for what I am using it for. ALSO note that I have and will continue to track the car and it is just freaking crazy (tubi ngt exhaust with hyper flow cats). - PERIOD.

    good luck

Did not like the lines of a gayardo. Too alien looking. A ferrari is an object of sheer beauty IMO and it sounds great. I would take a gallardo as an equal but it would be a sideways trade, not upwards.

I would say that early 360s would be a bad decision, however a Stradale as many have posted is one hell of a car and one that should not disappoint. The exhaust note alone is worth it over a Gallardo.

All the Lamborghini is, is one fast Audi. Go for heritage. Besides, the Gallardo's doors don't even go up. Do the Ferrari.
Just don't go to a Lamborghini chat or they will tell you different.

Ill offer my opinion for whatever its worth.

I have not owned either car, but my choice for my first exotic that I could realistically afford along with other cars was either a 360 or Gallardo. As i creep closer to that mark, i started doing more research, watching videos, gathering opinions, etc. Originally, I was all 360. I personally like the way the car looks better than a gallardo, as I sort of feel that the gallardo looks like it was put in a vice and smashed inward. The lines, front end, and rear end look good, but it looked a bit squashed to me.

When I was still in high school about 5 years ago, If i saw a 360, I would follow it for a few miles just to watch it and listen to it. I saw probably 5-6 of them a year, and would do the same thing every time. After seeing my first Gallardo (granted, I was a bit older and in college) after i followed it for a bit that first time, it didnt do much more than turn my head after that (theres an orange one around my house i see alot). Didnt sound nearly as good as the 360 IMO either.

However, there is a flip side. The Gallardo is just plain nasty as far as a stock car goes. It will destroy a 360 and run right next to an f430 until very high speeds. Being that I am a performance driven guy (im coming to the end of a 1600whp single turbo LSx build right now), I was swayed by the power of the Gallardo. From a highway roll there arent many factory cars that can take it, and even fewer cars from stoplight to stoplight thanks to the all wheel drive.

So being that I am in fact performance first, I think I made my choice on which I will be going with. Also, it seems more of you are saying it turns more heads than the 360. To be honest, thats one of the things I go for. I want a cool looking car. If i didnt care about the way it looked or people seeing it, Id buy a Z06, do heads/cam/ and a shot of gas and be done with it. Just being honest.

Now also to be fair, I have not driven either car. Ive driven countless vipers, vettes, a diablo, a 430, and various other performance and high end cars, but not a Gallardo or 360 specifically. I could get in the Gallardo and hate it. Or vice versa. So that could sway me back either way.

    Anyway, just my two pennies.

This really sums it up and is exactly my sentiment. I drove both cars before deciding on the 360, and I am really glad to have decided that way. Now I have a CS and am even happier.

    +1 ..

360 is dated to say the least and if you want a 360, you might as well get the better looking (and cheaper) 355 [any '97-'99 model] - or get a Stradale..

The Gallardo being engineered by Audi is not a bad thing at all, like some of these folks have tried to point out. Its actually better, compared to the Ferrari just because you can use it like a regular car (as long as mpg is not an issue.)

    In any case
6mt 360 would be a must (the F1 system is abit weak compared to the 430 and Stradale)
I would avoid any early e-gear Gallardos and stick to 6mt on that as well.

    you serious?

This basically means get the Ferrari because its a Ferrari.. and get the Lamborghini because the doors open upward....
    Thats abit petty and simplistic..
