OK...Cracked the windshield in the very upper corner drivers side. Has anyone ever had one replaced or had this happen? It appears as though it was a stress fracture not a impact crack. Any feedback would be appreciated. Jon in Delaware

Sorry to hear about that Jon. I don't have any answers for you, but am concerned that you said "stress" fracture. Since the BP windshield is not the same as the 550 due to its reduced height, this is should be a concern to all BP owners. Let us know what you find. Have you contacted Ricambi? I reckon this peice cannot be in-expensive.

Have you had any contact with the local Ferrari dealership? It's gotta be more expensive than the standard coupe windshield. I think that FoS replaced my previous 550 coupe windshield and it was about 5k (which included the trim pieces) The windshield on the Lambo Gallardo was almost 6k.

Kuzi, have you noticed whether or not you have the aluminum trim piece around the entire piece of glass? I have mine on the rack and covered so I can't see it that easily.

In both those cases I mentioned, the trim is almost as much as the glass.

    Good luck....

The windsheild is frameless. The only trim piece is the body colored extension riding 3/4 of the way up the sides of the windsheild. going to contact Ricambi and the local dealership today. stay tuned. Jon

The same thing happened to my Barchetta as well. Beverly Hills Ferrari told me they knew of 1 other Barchetta that this also happened to. The repair cost appx $3,000 including labor.

Well in the context of things, that figure is not bad. I would have thought much more. I better go take a look at my windshield.

Did BHF give a reason for the fractures?

They told me that "it happens" and that hopefully it does not happen again. They tried to get the work done under warranty, even though the car was out of warranty, but Ferrari did not cover it. No specific reason was given, but it seems as if it is a problem that several owners have had. My damage was on the upper passenger side corner, as was the damage to the other client at Beverly Hills Ferrari.

I had a large windshield pressure crack once like that, the replacement installer explained it could have been one of several things, maybe a slight bind in the original setting bed, or a hidden edge chip that travelled or even a long hidden manufacturing flaw.

On a limited run like the Barchetta, any of these would be possible I'd think..

My guy opined that a later glass would be of higher quality.......hope it all works out for you

I was told that it is a federal law that insurance companies have to replace windshields without any deductibles and no points deducted towards your claims. Whether it is true or not, I do not know. If it is, you are lin luck

Well the estimate is in......The windsheild is available and with labor will be $3300 through Algar Ferrari. I plan to make a claim on my insurance. I am pretty sure it will be a comprehensive claim and therefore subject to the applicable deductible. Stay tuned for more info. Jon

Jon, if you wouldn't mind, I"m sure myself and some others would be interested in seeing exactly where the stress fracture is located on the windshield.

    TIA

I have been asked to take pictures anyway so I will post them up. Update: State Farm is covering the cost under the "comprehensive" section of my insurance. Just got the call. Jon
