You could probably find a lot of recipe's on google. Then choose a few ingrediants from a few and create your own.

I've never made my own though.

Looking at that right now. Lots of different stuff to choose from. Im a bit of a BBQ sauce aficionado. So i figure if i like the stuff so much might as well try and make my own. Probably going to be a big trial and error process but ill get it right.

I do the same everytime I marinade a steak. I think I go overboard on ingredients though. That's my trial and error. So far I haven't found anything that's worked great.

I put this one in the Texas section thread for y'all...... :)

My Brother's Recipe... Born in Bellaire (the sauce, not him)!
    1 Large onion
    8 peeled garlic cloves
    2 cups ketchup
    10 oz Worcestershire
1 cup very strong black coffee! (Texas Style)
    1 cup molasses
    .5 cup apple cider vinegar
    1 tsp HOT chili powder
    2 cups light corn syrup
    2 cups light brown sugar
    -------------

Puree onion and garlic until consistency of cream of wheat

Add puree to all other ingredients

Simmer for 2 hours low flame, stirring frequently

    Refrigerate overnight

Simmer another 2 hours on low flame, stirring frequently

    Enjoy! :)

Damn! That sounds great. The coffee must add such an interesting twist on it.

Yeah. When I saw this thread I called him. He does his own smoking and grows his own Habaneros. Hardcore! :)

But, he said the coffee is what makes it Texas Style! :)

Darth’s brother’s recipe sounds killer w/ the bite of the coffee & vinegar, fruity apple & home smoked meat. I’ll take a gallon please. I go to a chili cook-off every year & have found some interesting “secret” ingredients on a similar note including: orange & lime juice/peel, dark chocolate, bourbon, exotic mushrooms, fresh pineapple & ground mint leaves. I say come up w/ something extreme & send me a pint to test…

I make my own....it's a pain but lasts a long time. I started doing this because I prefer low sugar BBQ sauce.
