Tyres for my 335

i recently bought Michelin Sport at Mavis and they are really good - i think if you are looking for Pirellis you need to get P Zeros and not SP 9000.

 

I have a couple Pirellis that will fit 355 rear wheels up in the garage attic. They have about 85% tread left on them....

 

Had the same need of tyres some months ago. I got the following comparison table from the net. I finally bought a complete set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 and I am very pleased with them.

If you are buying a full set & in the UK Toyo are quite often used now

If you've had a puncture and just need one a friend might be able to help

 

I just put those BS Potenzas on mine, the ones at the top of the chart Nice tires, very happy with them.

The SP9000's are too soft (IMHO) for the car. I have Bridgestone Potenza's on mine, and they work very well. My next set would most probably be Michelin PS2's.

I run Michelin Pilots on my Trans Am WS6 and I am very happy with them. I actually had a set of Pirelli Pzeros after I owned my first set of Michelins and I just bought my second set of Michelins. They are far better than the Pilots in handling, traction, and noise levels IMHO (not that noise matters in a F355 Spider). When I need tires for my F355 Spider, I will look into the Michelin Pilots.

 

hi guys, if say european tires i know what to choose now according to you guys' advise or the above chart. However, what do u think if european vs japanese tires ? i heard more n more ppl put on something like Advan high performance to their 355. What's the pros n cons except price/durability trade off or it will be simply never good for european cars match jap tires ? Thanks for your thought.

 

I have ran SP 9000's for years on my nsx. I have never had a problem with them. I have had good wear and pretty good traction. For a street tire and the price, I think they are a steal. I have always purchased my tires thru http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/home.do I also purchase their tire replacement warranty. I have used their replacement warranty on numerous occasions, everytime I have gotten a nail/razor blade I call and they send me a tire for free.

 

I would use one of the top 3 choices on the tirerack feedback survey. I am using the Goodyear F1 GSD3 and love them.

 

I just bought my 355 last month and purchased new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics. They are quieter than ANY tire on the market and just came out early this year. I have them on my BMW 330ci ZHP, too. It is seriously amazing how quieter they are over the PS2s. Performance is unparalleled, as well.

 

+1 on the Goodyear F1 GSD3, also less expensive and quieter than the others, have them and love them.

 

My F355 Berlinetta has the latest Pirelli P Zero fitted. I am very happy with the tyres. My brother who also drives the car is not a fan of the Pirellis. We have different driving styles. Other option I would fit would be the Michelin Pilot PS2 they are also excellent. The Goodyear F1 has a similar tread pattern to the original Michelin Pilot Sport tyre that was original fitment to the F355 so that tyre should work quite well. In short any tyre that you look at will be good as it will be a high performance tyre. I tend to stick (no pun intended) to Pirelli or Michelin. If you look at all the supercars they all run either Pirelli or Michelin. The F430 comes with Bridgestones which are also very good but you can specify Pirelli as the fitment. The Pirellis are faster around Fiorano than the Bridgestones. It simply depends on the type of driving you intend to do and your skill level. A very skilled driver will on a track be able to exploit the grip levels of a Pirelli or Michelin. A less skilled driver will probably not notice the difference between different tyre brands. On the street once again all tyres will be fairly close to each other as the car's abilities cannot be exploited to any great limit. My rule of thumb is that if you have been happy with the current tyres then replace them with either the same tyre or a tyre with a similar tread pattern.

 

I can recommend pirelli corsa tyres and also suggest that you can go to a larger size front and rear ie 295 rear and 255? front I found these to be exceptional in the dry , evry quiet hard to unstick great on rougher roads as they are softer and lets face it we rarely drive in the rain and don't do too many miles so best if you can wear out a set in a couple of years before the harden up. I had yokohamas on my 355. they were good but not half as good as the corsas.fwiw.

I like the SP9000s too for my 308. As for Tirerack reviews. I've noticed that they are way too generous sometimes. Just understand that most folks reviewing a tire just got their tires (so they're new) and just replaced either old worn out tires, or tires they didn't like in the first place. In sum, in most instances you are seeing a comparision between a tire that NEEDS to be replaced and a brand new tire. The better test is to look at those reviews wherein the reviewers have put some mileage on the reviewed tires.
