Can anyone explain the proper way to install and setup the dual point dists in a daytona. I have found the a/f 12 marks. We sent the dists out to get calibrated to the caps. Not looking for secrets but for info on timming this car. Thank you Tony
first you make sure the mechanical timing is correct with a degree wheel. Then you set static timing using 1-6 marks and 7-12 marks. It is in the WSM. Car should fire up and you can set advance with a T-light just like any other car. Treat car like two 6 cylinder engines tied to a common crankshaft. That's why both distributors need to be curved and matched together on a sun distributor machine so advance curves are the same.
Tony, Is this for a 6 distributor lobe USA car running dual points for emissions retard or a 3 distributor lobe Euro car running alternating dual points? I just got done doing this on a set of newly calibrated Daytona distributors but need to know what you are working with. You might also want to post on the Daytona Registry. www.daytonaregistry.com Drew Altemara
Drew the car is a EURO with 3 lobes running alternate points. It`s starting to get fustrating that the car will not run verywell. This is after we just sent the dist to get setup on a machine. Tony
