Yes I am a very bad guy for selling it for less than MSRP....I know....but they are quite limited and I have more buyers than models. MSRP on the Tamiya website is US$737 (http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=23211) .... I am selling them for over $100 less to regulars with shipping factored in. My regular price to non regulars is CAN$695 - about US$680. Every major shop on the planet is sticking to US$695 retail...except of course for some small internet sites with no overhead and limited supply that are not stocking them and just selling them for around wholesale to a few clients on a pre-order basis.

I should be put in jail.

Gees... Morry relax. One of the purposes of the internet and forums is for us enthusiasts to help one another and share information. Some places have better prices than others. It's really not personal. As I've said on other threads you have a good shop, good customer service, etc. etc. Your business model is different than some other shops. That's not good... that's not bad.. it's just the way it is. It's not a personal thing so why the puffing about you being a "very bad guy" or "should be put in jail". No one here that I've seen is making those types of personal comments so why are you taking it that way?

On a site like this it's expected that we share information including pricing advantages, etc. Most people on this site chose to save themselves almost $250 on a $450 model! Can you fault them for that. When you go shopping for your personal stuff, do you try to find the stores with the highest prices or ask to pay more :D

Hey I'm not complaining business is great and people of course have the right to shop where they want to. It's just silly that some posters feel 'insulted' at seeing prices that are not rock bottom cheap.

Of course everyone likes a deal. So do I.

I fully understand where Morry is standing!
The internet is controversial, it creates and kills business at the same time.

The real-estate, inventory, hardware and knowledge and reputation to run a regular business are expensive.

Everybody shops around looking for the best prices, but there is more to a good product!

I buy a lot on the Internet, but my regular longtime shop (over 20 years) is also getting some of my money!
He is more expensive, but looking at, and discussing things, with someone knowledgable, is worth that bit of extra money.
Over the years he gave me some good advice, and allways calls me when special items, I might like, are arriving.

I can see how frustrating it is, for someone trying to make a decent living, being outpriced by an internetstore operated from a spare-bedroom by someone who does not need to make a living from it....

Who's feeling insulted? I'm not. I didn't see anyone calling you a "very bad guy" or should be "thrown in jail" as your comments reflected. You're the only one taking things personally.

I believe you have every right to charge whatever you want. More power to you. I love capitalism! I respect your business model. When lower priced stores quickly sell out that eventually leaves your higher priced inventory that will in turn sell later. Both are valid models.

I follow the same model. I support local businesses as well. However, they get a portion of my business not all of it. I'm more loyal to my own family budget than someone elses!! :D

The internet is awesome at finding good deals.

I'm sure it is frustrating.. but for the consumer it is a very good thing. I've purchased some of my best models from small shops that are run out of a house (www.pitlanemodels.com being one of them). It's a hobby company for a nice couple. They dabble in the industry compared to larger shops as it is not there primary source of income... but I get better deals with great service (they can order me almost any car... they don't have much of what I collect listed on their site). I get the same model at a cheaper price. Isn't that what free markets are all about :)

Sounds like the 288's shipment out of the Tamiya Factory has been delayed (due to severe flooding)... :(

I don't think so... But anything is possible. All I was told is the shipment was delayed and would hopefully be coming next week...

The "over night" air shipment expected yesterday is delayed due to severe flooding at the Tamiya Factory. There was every indication from the Tamiya representatives that the shipment had been sent and was in transit to us, obviously and regrettably this was not the case. I assure you this is a "stuff happens" incident and not a poor attempt to mislead anyone.

The good news is the entire order for Toronto Motorsports will now be "air freighted" and everyone on our pre-order list will be of the first to receive.

Tamiya expects to be able to ship next week. I will keep you informed of any and all updates.

    Regards,

I sent and email to Derrick this morning asking if there were any updates. I just got the following response:

"They're on their way. I hope to see this week.

    Derrick"

Sounds promising, but it's not the first time I've heard "this week" (through no fault of Derrick's mind you)...

    Thanks :)

As soon as I get it, I'll post so many pics ya'll will never want to see it again (though it's entirely likely others will get theirs before me)

I can't wait to line it up with the other 4 1:12 Ferraris and take some pics of it using my new studio lights. Should be SWEET.
