More Old Photos

Several of the 1952-53 period photographs posted by Christian.Fr "thanks to Max Pershin" above are actually strictly copyright The GP Library and were taken by my late friend and colleague Geoffrey Goddard.

It would be thoughtful, just sometimes, if internet enthusiasts at least gave some credit to the people who a) were there and recorded such images at the time, and b) to the people who have collected, preserved and (most of the time) are willing to share some of this material with like-minded enthusiasts.

Generally, we are not minded to resort to litigation after our material's copyright is infringed like this, but at a minimum after being screwed it's quite nice to receive a thank-you kiss...

I think you'll find Doug that even 'Mr Pershin' doesn't know who the copyrights belong to, or even who took the photos. I normally try my best to at least find out who might possibly have taken the photos, but sometimes its a tremendous task....however, it is good that people like yourselves pipe up and claim the credit, as it means we can then say thankyou and double check permission after (not always the best way, but it's a start to being thoughtful).
If you look at the photos closely, they are terrible resolution anyway, so its not as though anyone can download them and make any use of them.....I do clearly see your point though.

 

I for one had no idea that Geoff had taken those shots. Beyond copywrite and credit issues, as a fan I would have been interested to know that they were his.

Great photos! It's interesting that most of the people in the 3rd photo are looking down the track and not at the 2 wrecked cars. Maybe they were expecting more trouble.

There looks like three, not two, and soon to be four looking at the lad running away. what a lot of money's worth in one pile up. was it oil?

 

Goodwood TT 1962, Surtees in the GTO was lapping (!) Jim Clark in the Zagato Aston who spun and and they collided, the other car was Rob Benson in a SWB who crashed into them later on his own.

Are you trying to trick us, Michiel? That third shot is a different race. The #2 is a different car (still an Aston?), and the flags have all disappeared! Great photos, though!
