I was wondering the correct method for launching a f430 ? I never race anyone of the line as I am worried about burning up the clutch and always roll the car of the line then get on it. There has to be a way to launch the care safely. Can someone tell me the correct method for lauching a F430 car from the line.

no idea what you are asking. I use the long pedal on the right, press down on it until I feel the clutch grab, then press harder and shift to different gears as I go faster. To shift, I use the paddle on the right of the steering column for upshifts. To turn the car in different directions, use the roundish thing that should be directly in front of your chest. If none of this is working for you, check the nut in front of the steering wheel and adjust.

    Well I found that funny!!

In all seriousness, if you're asking when to change gears etc....do what you want to.

This brings me to a serious point about some drivers (having a sex and the city carrie on laptop moment): Do some ferrari drivers think too much about driving, instead of enjoying it?

*as I lay here gazing out at the window, with those two foxes humping like mad....I ponder this question momentarily*

Not a 430 but I tried a full throttle launch on my 360FI and the car just kept bouncing off of the limiter and never moved. I had to shut the car off so that was the last full throttle launch I ever did with that car.

Are you possibly inquiring about the use of launch control or LC? If so, there are only a handful of US F430's with this option that escaped removal by the dealer at the request of FNA.

I think the question pertains to flooring the car in first from a dead stop as opposed to easing onto the gas until the cars begins to move forward. Flooring the car from a dead stop is a good way to greatly reduce clutch life.

My 355 has a 6-speed......I can get the revs up 4-5K range and either dump the clutch (tires spin until 2nd gear and car gets sideways) or lightly modulate it to get a great launch with minimal spin. I have never driven a car with an F1 tranny...can you leave from a standstill with the revs up? If so how?

With LC the computer is matching the RPM's and release of the clutch in order to get as much power down with minimal wheel spin. With the standard F1, (w/o LC) all you'll get is uncontrolled wheel spin.

Yes ... looking for the correct way to launch the car from a dead stop without killing the clutch ! I have been rolling the car off the line then flooring it. I guess I am wondering if there is a safe way to launch the car like you would in a standard stick shift.

Not really. The standard US F430 F1 tranny was not designed for high performance starts.

Since the US cars don't have launch control....I simply brake torque. Left foot on brake and right on gas (obvious I have F1 tranny). I just ease on to the gas and rev up until I can feel the car wanting to surge forward. I take my left foot off the brake and get on the gas. Usually get a slight chirp and quick take off.

That really doesn't sound good for the clutch.

Most launch techniques are not very good for the clutch or any other part of the car for that matter. If anything...the method I'm utilizing probably causes the least wear and tear on various parts. A rolling start is simply too slow. Ideally I would prefer to do this but sometimes it just doesn't work out. :D

Next time your at the dealer have them run a Diagnostics to determine clutch wear. You may be unpleasantly surprised.

I just took it into the dealer not too long ago. No excessive clutch wear. I don't even have that many miles on it. I don't even do the launch technique I described all that often.

I have tried to do full throttle starts in diff positions.. In race I find it is a bit to mean on the car.. Now I have 55,000 kms on my car which is 32,000 miles and I still have 43% left on my second clutch.. The 360 was a 6 sp so no help with that one.. Sorry..
