Hello I'm new to the site and to 348 ownership. My overhead interior light works except for the intermittent setting (doors open light on/doors closed light off). It worked when I initially acquired the car but just stopped working the other day. I searched and found a thread about the light not working at all but nothing about just one function not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Ferrari Chat, and congratulations on your 348!

Question: Do the red lights on the rear edges of the front doors come on when you open the doors? Is the problem the same when you open each door individually, or does the dome light work correctly on one door and not correctly on the other door?

The door lights and window switches work on both doors. The overhead light doesn't work with either door open.

I'm not exactly sure how the dome light on a Spider differs from the dome light on a ts/tb, but if the light works in the manual position, then you have power to the light and you know that the bulbs are good, so it has to be a bad ground. The manual position grounds right to the frame. The "door open" position grounds through the switches in the door jambs. Somehow, it seems unlikely that the switches are the problem, if the red lights on the back of the doors work OK, so maybe you just have a dirty connection where the black wire from the switches attaches to the light housing. It should be easy to check with a test light and/or a voltmeter and/or a jumper wire. Good luck, you can do it!

What am I doing on FChat at this hour?

Sorry to only add this now but if I set the light to "intermittent" and actually keep some pressure on the switch with my hand the light comes on. But the moment I let go of the switch the light goes off. Like you said I assumed it was a dirty contact but wanted the opinion of someone who perhaps knows better. Any suggestions on cleaning the contact if that is indeed the problem? I don't wanna make any problems worse. Thanx.
