Nice pics. Hurlingham I assume?? Is the ex McQueen Lusso definitely owned by a Brit or is it just beeing looked after and stored by a specialist in the UK hence it being UK registered and taxed?? Paul
The guy who opened it up for me, told me it was a UK owner Didn't really understand why it still had US plates on it - when the tax disc showed a UK reg number
Thanks for the great pictures! Do you know which GTO this is? Tan interior in a red GTO doesnt look very original. The Mcqueen Lusso is rumoured to be owned by Eric Clapton now. @Trax: I think this hast historical reasons. IFC 007 was Mcqueens numberplate when he owned the car. I dont know which rules there are in Britain for vintage cars, but there is posibly a way to keep their original condition including the numberplates.
I heard that the under bidder of the 250 California 2377 GT (the Coburn car) was the buyer of the McQueen Lusso, does this mean Clapton was also after 2377 or did the Lusso end up with Clapton through various brokers. Paul
Michael Pearce (name on tax disc holder) is a fairly up market car dealer in Southport, Merseyside. Is Clapton living up that way? Who are the big collectors from up there? Stephen Pilkington?? Paul

i met Stephen Pilkington at the Northern Ferrari Day on sunday.he was there with his 275 4cam-he had lots of stories to tell but didn't mention that one...
He's had some great cars over the years including the GTO seen in the pictures here registered 6 GTO. Paul
The red "California" is a 250 GT Pinin Farina Cabriolet #0829 GT that was involved in a an accident at the Ralle National du Touquet in June 1959, at this time it was re-bodied by Scaglietti with California bodywork. Currently for sale here http://www.talacrest.com/stockdetails.asp?stockID=17 Paul
The paint work on that car was a total mess - the guy at the show with the car said it had been stored in a farm barn and was absolutely covered in bird s*it when they got it
The GTO was "restored" in England about two years ago (I think there may be an old thread about it in the UK section) I suspect the IFC 007 is on there for display purposes, you wouldn't be allowed to drive it on the street with an incorrect plate (although people do).
The car looks a lot cleaner in the photos, than it did outside the Espace Fontvielle at Coys Monaco auction 6 weeks ago. Congrats to the new UK owner of the ex McQueen 250 Lusso - the Lusso in RM's Maranello sale was in almost comparable condition...definitely 2 of the best examples of the tipo extant. The only famous collector nr Southport is Sean Bramhall!! E
Thanks, Douglas. That looks like a great event. I'd seen it advertised in some of the British magazines, but didn't realize it would attract that level of cars. I may have to find a way over there next time! Jack.
