I have removed my Veglia fan switch to check which one it is to get a new one for my replacement ali radiator.

I noticed the temp range on it is 85 76. From what i've learnt on here it is the same as a 70's Vw Golf (I think what you guys across the pond call a Rabbit). I was looking at one on fleabay but it states it has a temp range of 92/87. I asked the seller if he had one with a lower range like my original one and he said with the Veglia code I gave him (3-F, 73-02) that the numbers cross references to a Lancer/FIA switch he has with a temp range of 86/74. It has the same M22 x 1.5 thread & two spade connectors.

It might sound a dumb question but which is the best one to go for, I was wondering if mine wasn't the correct original one as I had presumed the Vw was the one to get and not a Lancer/Fia one. The one in the listing is identical to the one I removed and he says Lancer/FIA is also identical, he also states the Lancer/Fia one is for an Alfa twin spark plus several other Alfa models.

    Any advice would be great.

Heres a link to the listing.

The only basic distinctions between the various ones on the market are the thread type and the on / off temps. So long as the ones that you are looking at match these two (2) parameters, you are Good To Go.

I went thru this same search myself a couple of months ago, and ended up with one which was claimed to fit an early 1980's Peugeot. The local (USA) folks here were glad to sell it to me, cheap, as Peugeots here are long ago gone.

Simplest way for you to go is to take out your old one and visit your favourite local car parts emporium on a slow day, and ask the friendly counter chap to chase it down for you.

    Cheers - DM

P.S. - As always with electrical temperature related stuff like this, confirm that it works with a pan of boiling water in the kitchen before you install.

NAPA carries these exact switches..they now come with GM type connectors that really are superior..just buy the other half of the connector for two bucks and you're on your way..hope this helps...

Thanks for the replies. I presume Napa is the same as Halfords that we have this side of the pond. Unfortunately if I bought it from them the shipping would work out more than I can get one in the Uk for.

I will go for the Lancer/FIA fan switch as that seems the nearest compatible.
