Mondial T coupe with 62k black/gray. All original with only a few minor exterior imperfections that would be expected with the age. Also, probably needing a belt change due to age, not mileage. Sunroof non functional. I have locals that can help with the service and I have a lift. I can also tackle the sunroof issue myself. How much for the parts, belts etc for a major? Any idea on cost. I have not followed the sell/buy market on Mondials, so I have no idea of the value. I am a coupe type of guy and like the space for kids.
    Thanks

I believe the Mondial T coupe is especially rare, so pricing is dependent on demand for a Mondial T Coupe.

As for service, since it has the 348 driveline configuration, I would suspect that costs would be inline with servicing a 348. Eugenio lists pricing on his website and I think that's a good place to start so you can get a feel for what's involved. For a major maintenance with water pump replacement, it's around $6K.

Probably $30-$35K for a 60K+ mileage car needing a service. Only 42 (same number as franchised dealerships at that time) sold in the US.

Parts, with water pump (recommended), tensioner bearings and everything you should replace, about $2500-$3000. Labor charges at least that much, at least that is what I charged to do a proper job on my car, before it was mine <grin>.

Recommend Daniel at Ricambi America if you don't yet have a relationship established with another recognized source to buy parts from. Otherwise, let the service facility sell you the parts, makes them feel better and then it's on them if there is a problem. Make sure you do the oil pump drive update (do a search) if it's not already been done while you're in there. That'll add a bit of time and expense but you only do it once. Check for the Nippondenso alternator update (mine still has the Delco, working fine), Also, clutches are regular maintenance items.

Good luck. I really enjoy mine. 14K miles in the last eighteen months, no troubles.

Good luck on your search. Took a year to find the right one in UK due to limited availability.
Platinum grade examples range between 21-25K GBP here, depending on factory fitted options.

    Great car.

I agree with the current thoughts of about $2-3K for correct belt service parts. The sunroof is not for the faint of heart or wallet. Many of the parts are going to be difficult to find. And the mechanism is odd and will cause you to wonder why you ever tried to fix it yourself to begin with. Be prepared for the worse with it ($5000?).

As for value. 60K miles, perhaps high thirties with recent belt service and non-functioning roof.

She told me $26k with an asking of $28 but I never pursued after the inspection. My father drove down to view and take pics. The car drove nice, had a nice interior, but there was rust all along the weather stripping on the trunk. If I can see rust, I run. I passed on the car. I don't mind maint. items, but full bodywork adds up and I don't do that.

Yes, same car. I knew of it. Dealer had gotten it (priced well) and had it in inventory for awhile. Attempted an eBay sale with hopes of getting correct dollars for it (mid thirties) but there were WAY to many buyer/flakes that kept yanking his chain (you know the type, the type that say they want a car but dont ever actually man up to buy one). He tired of the used Ferrari game and sold it to a gent that had made him an offer - albeit an low one (a gent from this forum) and yes for the dollar you speak of - strictly because the guy was a stand up real buyer and the dealer (a pretty nice guy) was done with the games.

Tough to base a price on a deal like that. However this car for $26K or so plus the maintenance required $3K-$6K plus the sunroof repair $4K? would seem like its still an attractive T at 62K miles. At least to me.

Here is why I didn't want the car. Sorry for the small pick but that rust is all along weatherstrip. I feel that if you can see it, there is always much more that can't be seen.

My Mondial t had the same problem as the factory did not paint/coat the rim sufficiently to prevent rusting over time. Removing the weatherstrip is easy..working to remove the rust and recoating the rim properly takes time but is not a reason to balk at the car's purchase. A new oem trunk weatherstrip is available and not expensive. Look more at the engine/mechanical/electrical systems. There's where your red or green light decision should be based.

I believe it all depends on the reasons why you want to purchase the car. If you just want to drive a Ferrari cheaply then I agree that crappy engine/mechanical/electrical systems can cost you a fortune. However, a car with great cosmetics but crappy engine/mechanical/electrical systems can still be fixed and then be very original. Once you have to fix the cosmetics (rust repair, repaint, etc.) you are deviating from its original state in a way that can never be undone. I once went for a mechanically near perfect car with questionnable cosmetics and fully regretted my purchase. So if this is the car you would want to keep, I would be just as concerned about its cosmetics. The car has to feel right, and if you are concerned that there is more than just the rust visible along the weather stripping on the trunk then I guarantee you that that concern will always haunt you and take away from your driving/ownership experience. I would pass on the car and wait until another one comes along.

That's why there is no such thing as a blanket answer for "what are these things worth?"

It's ALL based on condition, condition, condition.

I passed on a bunch of other cars until I got the one I wanted. Did I pay up? Nope, I paid what it was worth to me.

It helped that my old shop had done all the work on it since new...

+1. Coupes produced in such small numbers, and straight ones even harder to find. Definately keepers, as the last body on chassis tipo under the Enzo's reign.

Damn, I've been looking at this car as well and the PPI revealed more rust than I expected (was hoping for none).

Has anyone tackled this problem yet, at this advanced stage of decay? The car doesn't appear to have any rust other than under the weather stripping (front and rear hoods).

I've heard on more then one occasion (not limited to Ferraris) that the wife received all or most of the assets through the divorce. Afterwards the assets just sat around in open storage for a awhile. At some point when the funds start getting low (can't party and shop forever) the assets get dumped. ;)

I don't know what happened here but it looks like it's been sitting outside for a long time. No flooding, just a lot of rain.

I bought mine with 17,000 on the clock (all verified) euro car left hand drive for 19000 UK pounds last year. No rust, at all, EVERYTHING works (I fized the AC, sunroof and all electrics). Was offered USD 40,000 and I said no ;-)

    Loving it too much!

I know what you mean, I've seen enough for the same...

When it comes to the t you're a lucky man to be outside of the US. There are less then 40 (of 800+ built) to choose from over here. Enjoy yours! :)
