My 456 got delivered!

Firstly I want to say a really big thanks to Rex71 from the forum. He's been a real gent and a friend, and found me the car. Its my pleasure to have met you, and thank you once again for helping me out here.

Well finally after weeks of waiting my 1997 456 GTA has finally been delivered! I've been out of the country so the car was being kept in a different city but the dealer transported the car overnight to my local Ferrari dealer. All I can say is im massively impressed and very happy! I've taken pictures but I'll have to wait until I get home to get the pictures off my camera.

I wasnt sure what to expect to be honest as the car is yellow with Blue interior, but I love it! The yellow looks very nice on the car, and if anything it spices up a very subtle shape. The blue interior is much darker than the pictures show, and is almost Navy Blue. At night it will probably look black. Overall Im very happy, but the car needs to be detailed properly. In Saudi cars get covered (inside and out) with a very fine dust. This is no exception.

I took the car out for a drive and was hugely impressed. Before the PPI the car had a lot of error lights. I got worried until I was told they had jump started the car to get the car to the PPI. My mechanic had told me from a past experience that it can create a lot of errors on the ECU. Sure enough they had all gone now that everything had been reset. I drove it and the car was solid. I had never driven a 456 before so I didnt know what to expect. But it drove really well, steering was solid, and accelerated, braked and handled perfectly. One thing I will need to get done is to re-build the rear shocks as it is sitting a little high. Im going to take the car back to London in a few weeks as Im relocating back, so I'll do some of the minor things there. For now I've left it with the dealer to get the Major service done with Cambelts. I cant wait to get it back to drive it a bit before it goes on the ship!

Thanks very much mate. Should be interesting to see the car next to your Blue 456M. We'll have to swap over also to see how they compare. I might have to bribe the dealer to finish the job quickly so that I can drive it on the weekend!

Thanks for the comments. My car is going to be with the garage for a few days having the service done, so I'll have to wait for them to finish to take more pictures.

 

Finally got the car home, after a major detour for a few hours. You have to understand the Ferrari dealership is two minutes away, so driving in the opposite direction was a good start!

They cleaned up the engine really well, but didnt do a great job of the interior. So yup you've guessed it I had to take the car out again to wash and get the interior cleaned.

Was was fab to drive, but I didnt really get a chance to push it as the traffic here is ridiculous (even at night). Up to 3500 revs its actually pretty civilised, but push past that and all hell brakes loose!

Ive got very used to the colour too and looks awesome at night. Admittedly the car needs a few things done (eg rear shocks), but overall Im very happy. Now that the interior is cleaned I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them up.

The colour is Giallo Modena.

 

It certainly does. The darker colour suit the colour well, but I think the yellow spices it up as you said. Kind of reminds me much more of the Daytona which you rarely see in the darker colours.
