The F1.com website finally showed their true colors today. I've always thought they were biased towards the Mercedes/McLaren team but today they were blatent. Here's the headline and first line in their story

"Flawless Hamilton triumphant at sodden Silverstone"

"McLaren's Lewis Hamilton has retaken the lead of the drivers' championship after a stunning home win in a very wet British Grand Prix."

    Isn't there a 3 way tie with 2 Ferrari drivers and a Mercedes/McLaren driver?

It's not that I think Englands drivers shouldn't be recognized, but many times i've gone to that website to get info after the race about a particular team's problems, only to fine something about the Mercedes/McLaren team or some other English drivers quotes. After all it's a F1 site, not a British drivers site.

Kimi, Phil, Lewis: 48 pts each.
    Decider: finishes.

    Kimi 2 wins.
    Phil and Lewis: each: 3 wins, 1 2nd, 1 3rd, 1 4th, 1 13th, 1 19th. --- dead even from eight of the nine races.

    Phil: 14th, Lewis: 10th. <- decider.

    (Lewis dnf:19, np: 10th, 13th; Phil: dnf: 19,14, np: 13)

    So, technically, it's Lewis 1st, Phil 2nd, Kimi 3rd.

But if you think FIA is Brit biased over F1, look at the way they folded WRC when they had no more French teams. ;)

Although I live in London, I'm Canadian and I'm not the worlds biggest Hamilton fan. However, it was a flawless drive in conditions that were absolute ****. I don't see any way around that. Had Kimi and Fernando changed tires in the pit-stops we likely would have seen them on the podium. F1 is a team sport and the tacticians let Ferrari down.

Of course you're not biased. Just like I'm not.....yeah right.

The F1.com website article states that Hamilton has retaken the lead in F1 standings. If this is true, then I am talking out my a$$. So why don't you explain to me how LH is in the lead, before throwing out your little flame balls there sweettits.

You act like I'm attacking you, LH, or England. Is your skin really that thin mate? Or are you just that much in love with LH?

Oh, right; I forgot: brain cells cause global warming. ;)

I've been downloading the results of each race from the formula 1 web site.
Arguments are more fun when you have more facts to throw around. :p

(Kimi has gotten fast lap in the last six races, including SilverLake. Heidfeld got fast lap in Malaysia, Heikki got Australia and Bahrain.)

(And some of us *do* watch F1 races with a clipboard.) (The devil's in the details.)

    Why, yes, I *am* a nerd. ;)

But this is the second time this year that Massa and Hamilton have been tied right through the points finishes.
    Coincidence, or "entertainment series"?

As one who spends too much time on the Grassy Knoll it is not beyond my belief that the entertainment value may be enhanced, but I'd really hate to think so.

i loved when the commentators said massa was watching his championship hopes evaporate. He's 2 points behind at the half.

I think it got the worst when Peter Windsor was talking about Lewis' used tyres and how they were "beautifully worn" and that the other drivers didn't wear down their tyres and well as Hamilton does.

Actually Lewis HAS retaken the lead so your avatar is accurate... Post #4 above explains it well so I'll refer you to that. Basically, all three are tied on points but the current classification is Lewis, Massa, Kimi.

When I heard his say that, I was sure that I'd heard it all. This is nothing against Brits in any way, but they will find ANY excuse to gloat over Lewis's success, deserved or not.

Every time I turn on Speed TV for F1 pre-race, I just get myself ready to hear Peter Windsor saying something like:

Windsor: "We're over here by Kimi's Ferrari. He's really struggled to come to grips with the track this weekend. I don't see him making up any positions on the start."...."We've now come to Felipe Massa's car, which has endured numerous excursions into the gravel traps over the weekend. The Ferrari mechanics surely must be hoping he can just keep it on the track."...."Ahh...now we've come to the wonderful and beautiful McLaren of Lewis Hamilton, the second coming of Christ. He's certainly outclassed everyone this weekend. Just look at how he puts his helmet on, just perfect...and look at the way the McLaren mechanics have their tires stacked! Absolutely brilliant."

I also remember reading an article in F1 Racing Magazine last year around the time of the Malaysian GP. Windsor basically filled the whole article about the way Lewis turned the steering wheel around the final hairpin of the Sepang circuit. It's almost to the point of being entertaining.

We can only imagine what you yanks would be like if you had a talent as good as Lewis in F1. The amount of apple pie and bull siht that would be going on supporting your driver would turn the stomach.
But you haven't and the Brits have so just deal with it, or watch NASCAR;)

Umm...have you noticed all the flack American drivers already get on this forum? Yes, we would occasionally get a little too excited about having an American like Lewis in F1, but I really can't see anyone raving about the way he wares his tires or coming anywhere close to pulling a Peter Windsor.

I would say that this was a pretty accurate description of exactly what happened. I am a Ferrari fan, but I can also recognise when someone has had a great race. When other cars were busy pirouetting all over the track Lewis lapped almost the entire field and is now (technically) in the lead for the Championship. Lewis is not perfect. He has made mistakes, but at Silverstone he made the other drivers look very much 2nd best. It was his day. Others drivers have good days during the season as well, but Lewis certainly dominated at Silverstone and to argue otherwise seems pretty churlish.

P.S. I think some people might start moaning soon about the fact that this thread title doesn't have the word 'Spoiler' in it. Personally I taped the race and watched it last night so I avoided the Internet until I'd seen the race, but this website seems to try to cater for people who want to watch a race days after it's happened and do nothing to avoid the result.

I dont have much knowledge of F1 but it was pretty obvious to me that if there is a draw, then individual results would be taken into account. Dont most sports do this?

Hamilton and team was flawless. No argument there. The headline that Hamilton is in the points lead was misleading. I would think "Three way tie!" would be more sensational. Great season, none the less.

Gee, another Brit not seeing the thread title.

Did I EVER say Hammy didn't have a great race? No.

Did I ever say he wasn't a good driver? No.

Did I ever say he doesn't have a great future in F1? No.

At the end of the season is the only time when the 1st 2nd and 3rd place finishes will decide if there is a tie for either the drivers or constructors championship.

So, with only half the season finished, how can LH be leading in the WDC points?

A very simple question and answer. HE CAN'T! because the season isn't over yet
