i doubt. he spun at the chicane i think 3-4 corners from the start line. i remember seeing going too rough over the kerbs. no excuse. but at the last corner, there wasn't any kerb to touch. even Kimster nearly went into the pits backwards. but the chassis just isn't right i think. he just could not drive the car in a straight line when applying the power.
Marc Gené, who is also one of the two commentators for F1 races on Italian satelite TV (as well as a Ferrari F1 test driver) said live during the race that judging from the images, there was something very wrong with the way Massa's car handled. He should know something...
Really? Wow. That might help explain Massa's continuous 360s...but how could there be a loose nut behind his steering wheel?? I doubt that there's any relationship between that and his crash on Friday. Very strange...
I had a feeling you might have been joking... Forgive me. I need sleep (and a new sarcasm detector). Damn. I feel stupid.
I think this is ALL down to Massa. I doubt the chassis had anything to do with this like some "experts" on here suggest. Ferrari would have known if it was broken, and IF it really was, he must be like 2 seconds faster in the next race when it's fixed. He put in some good times Saturday, so I really doubt anything was wrong with the chassis. I seem to remember he went over the kurb on his 5th spin as well.
I guess Brian is not talking about the chassis from a structural point, but about the setup. Keke Rosberg and Marc Surer, both Ex-F1 drivers and commentators on German TV, said that his problems very much looked as if his setup was just wrong.
Like the one that took out Massa in Sepang? You know the one that suddenly got in the way of his Ferrari, as he explained it afterwards...
I was never a fan of Rubens either, but he knew/knows how to drive in the rain and more importantly he knew his place in the team as the #2 driver. I said it many times: I'm quite happy having Massa as the #2 driver and as such I think he is doing a great job. Problem is, he still thinks he is an equal to Kimi.
I wouldn't generalize like that. He has his set of favourite tracks. There is only Interlagos left on the calendar, so your bet is going down to the wire. Particularly since now the championship is tied, Ferrari will have to place the team order cart and Massa will have to sacrifice Interlagos once again.
Don't get me wrong: I like Rubens as a person. We're in agreement there. As we are in agreement re: Massa.
Where? He came second to Michael at Hockenheim in 2006, so that may be a possibility. Valencia and Singapore are up for grabs, but other than that slight chance at Hockenheim, I don't see him doing it anywhere outside of Interlagos. Also, if Kimi has the points advantage and needs the win, as Andreas said, Massa will just have to give up the win in Brazil again.
If you admire slavish people you should detest Kimi, much as Kimi would detest anyone like that. He used to think equal. Now he's ahead.
So does every other driver, just like you have your favourite drivers. It's not time yet, after 2-3 races. Massa is still ahead BTW.
Massa took wayy to much of kerb thru turns 5-6, in Sepang, lose all downforce and just lost it. pure driver error.
it's hard to just blame Massa 100% here. first, he had a big shunt on Friday. then the loose wheel nut on Saturday. on the driver those stuff will surely make him lose confidence. however, having said that, Massa did some silly rookie mistakes, IMHO, like how u pointed out, taking too much kerbs, etc. also, in Fuji last year, where conditions, according to drivers, were worst than last weekend's race, Massa spun once, i think. however, he did still guide the car to a creditable 5th, taking into consideration how Ferrari management screwed up the tyre selection pre race. In Monaco, tight twisty track, he did a good job to put the car and himself to 3rd place. he spun once, thru ste devote. however, i just think, something was just terribly wrong, maybe handling/setup/balance issues for him last weekend. like i mentioned earlier, each time he gave the throttle power, the car just spun, even on a straight line. nearly collected a rabbit or so
