The guy has great taste. :)

Never having been to one of his establishments, how good are they (think of dropping them in a market like NYC or London)? What's the difference between each establishment?

I've been to 2/3 of them.

Mark McEwan is known thuought North America. His restaurants and culinary expertise have been recognised by the best critics around.

Bymark and North 44 have consistently been rated as top restaurants in Canada, and North America, and could easily fit in the NY and London Scene.

Toronto has produced many great chefs/cooks who have gone onto bigger restaurants and cities across the globe.

Another good example is Chef Susur Lee. (From Susur + Lee restaurant in Toronto). He has been hand picked by one of the newest and most expensive hotels in NYC to be the head chef from what I've heard.

I've read about Susur Lee. He is keeping Lee open, however. I've read mixed reports about him (at least Susur). One is he's over-priced and pretentious. The others seem to rave about his innovation, creativity, and use of ingredients. Seems like he's a take-it-or-leave-it kind of chef.

Does Toronto have a ceiling on the high-end restaurants? With the new luxury hotels coming on board, they'll have the dining/drinking establishments to meet the level of high-end luxury. Will this be a problem?

    Comical.

All these cars can do 0-60 in under 4 seconds , yet they sit in traffic in downtown in frist gear to drive back home.

No wonder they all need new clutches after 5,000 miles.

Nice pics though...to bad you dont see some of the older stuff....seeing stuff you can see at the FoO showroom floor isnt exciting.

    A shame really.

I recently noticed Susur had its windows covered. Not sure if that means it's gone or maybe reno's? Lee, which is next door appeared to be open and kicking.

Anyone here been to that freak Mark Thuet's place? Apparenty he's got a few good things going on? For the record I mean "freak" in the nicest sense lol. He had that Hell's kitchen type show once which was based on him and his wife putting together his restaurant next door to Susur/Lee. :)

The glowing taillight pic is especially dramatic. All very well done, considering you were lacking a tripod.

Neat shots all taken practically in front of my shop. Are we sure Mark owns a red 599GTB I park my Dino beside his Mercedes AMG all the time under the Hazelton and have never seen him in a Ferrari?

Funny, because the owner of the Penthouse of the Hazelton (the 8000 sqft one that is a home) has a huge collection and one is a real yellow Diablo Roadster, 1999. What did he look like?

I'm 97% sure.........2 months ago I saw a man who looked exactly like Mark McEwan, outside of a store in Kleinburg. I could be wrong though.

He then proceeded to get in and drive off in a new Red 599 GTB.....the license plate also had "TerraN44" on it ? (Those are two restaurants owned by McEwan?)

Who else would have a license plate like that? Has anyone else spotted this car yet?

    Thanks for the kind remarks...
i think i'll get a small tripod and keep it in the trunk... these dusk/night shots are fun to pull off. Although a tripod on Yorkville THAT night might have been asking for trouble. Dont get down as much as i used to but I've never seen it so crowded with people. There was 2 or 3 events around the city, one just south of there in the park near the museum, so that might have contributed as well...

    thx again

    No, not lately.

A friend of mine actually had a kart race at Mosport a few weeks back, its a shame that I couldn't make it.

I might head over for the next Superbike race though.

I was on the big track last Friday. Still couldn't find the potholes, bumps, patches, etc...

I'm pretty sure that 7 came through the Toronto dealership, but I'm under the impression that a few have been imported as well. I'd give it from 10-12 in Ontario with at least one not in Toronto (Windsor).

    ;)

    OK, Mosport isn't that bad.

They could at least fix the bathrooms, and get rid of the "French Fry trailer".

It seem like the high-profile chefs lik the exotic cars. I know Gordon Ramsay (which I've read that he may open a restaurant in Toronto) has a couple of exotics (I know at least one Ferrari and Bentley, I believe).

Nice. Any idea of what is in his collection (I'm guessing he has a nice garage somewhere's, since he lives in a hotel/condo property)?

+1 Big Red Just curious, what do you classify as old stuff? BTW While these boulevarders were parked I spent the whole day driving up to Creemore Brewery with the Alfa Club of Toronto on roads like River and # 20 sideroad ...... thats what this old guy was doing instead of parking my Fcar in Yorkville and acting important. Main reason why I don't belong to the FCA. Just drive it.
