Recently put the car through a major service. Since the dealership in Saudi doesnt hold the parts I picked them all up in London. Just in case you were wondering what it consists of...

    2 X Air filters
    2 x Fuel filters
    2 x Oil Filters
    1 X Pollen Filter
    12 X Spark Plugs
    2 x Cambelts
    2 x Cambelt bearings
    2 x Belts (I'll check invoice tomorrow)
    1 x Belt (again I'll check invoice)

Dealer supplied Oil and a new battery.

In addition when I get the car to London I'll be changing 3x Gearbox filters and Gearbox oil. I'll pull out the invoice tomorrow and post up the prices.

Where are the cam seals, valve cover gaskets, and end-plate gaskets?

Unfortunately I forgot to collect those while in the UK, and the dealer doesnt stock. The car is being shipped to the UK in a week so this work will be completed there.

I should mention also that Im a bit annoyed with Eurospares that they didnt tell me at the time I needed this. I told them I was having a major service done and that I needed everything but the oils. Then it was only when I was in Saudi that I realised it was needed, and although the dealer said he would order it, but the time the parts arrived the car would have been on a ship. So bizzarely I will have to get some bits done in the UK.

Even here it is not mentioned, but I actually went there to see them so there should not have been any confusion.

Also if ever you are ordering a kit from Eurospares be warned that the cambelts in their kit are not Ferrari branded but Dayco branded. I had to pay extra for the Ferrari branded ones. Not worth cutting corners really.

Is it recommended to replace the cam belts tensioners?

I think they are the expensive bits. I am glad these were done on my last service as they were definately needed to be on inspection.

Question : are they meant to be replaced regardless on the Cambelt Service? or is it based on inspection by engineers?

I'm thinking Adnaan, if they were inspected to be OK? then there is less to worry about, it is dissapointing that you are having to through this!

    kindest regards Aamir

Cheers Aamir. Good question. PPI didnt mention it (other than cambelt change was needed), and neither did Eurospares. So when we realised we didnt have the complete parts the dealership did the oils, filters and two belts. Cambelts will be done when I return to UK, so I guess the dealer there can decide if they need changing too. My guess is the dealer will probably say yes too!

One thing that I just remembered is I picked up the cambelt bearings from Joe Macari (official Ferrari in London) and they didnt mention it either! Hmmmm.

why did you choose the stock air filters and not K&N or something?

I prefer original to be honest. Plus im not going to be driving this on the limit where i need a bit of extra power. Are you running K&N filters? do you notice much difference, and any downside?

don't notice much difference. I got them for ease of maintenance in that it's a one-time charge and don't need to replace them.

stocks are fine but need replacing.

there have been a few debates on using a nice paper filter vs. the K&N oil types, and all made good points.
paper: use, throw, done. start over.
they do tend to have a finer filtering for some particles, but I couldn't tell you which environment they perform better: SAND?, dust, ??

    K&N:
use, clean, apply more oil, use, clean....again again, until replace somewhere down the road: When???? not sure, but at my driving environment doesn't seem it will be anytime soon.

does it trap particles more, yes/no/same....

I just wanted the option of more cleaning at my discretion and not trying to find filters on the fly.

Thanks for that. Thats really interesting as I didnt realise that about the K&N filters. Well the new ones are in now, so I guess maybe next time.
