30k service due, possibly time for a clutch and in the words of Brian Crall, "If the hoses under the intake manifold haven't been changed yet, it's time."

I wonder if the car accurately reflects the odometer reading.

Otherwise, If the rest of the car is in good shape I'm wondering why it hasn't sold for such a reasonable price.

I had corresponded with the owner of that car when I was shopping for a 550. He had recently put it on consignment at FoBH and they were asking $95K for it.

I called and emailed the dealership several times and never heard back from them...

Then I decided I really didn't want a red one and ended up buying a newer 2000 titanium 550.

It sounds like a really good deal at the lower price.

PS: I've been told that 550 clutches hold up really well and you should be able to get
50-75K+ miles out of one, if you don't beat it to death.

    95k to 79k is quite a drop.

And that's only the asking price. This is nuts. For what this car is, and what it can do, geez...

The market may be a lot softer than anyone wants to accept. I'm betting that the spread between asking prices and selling prices has grown substantially in the past six months.

This seems like aggressive pricing....it should not last long now. I wonder how much the authorized dealer that had the car was willing to pay wholesale??? $65k?

Agreed, for not much more than my TR I could have a "plain old red 550". WOW!

Correct. You have to learn to properly start off in first year and to use reverse correctly. The 550 will let you know if you're not doing it right provided you don't have anosmia.

for less than that. It's a plain Jane car, 97/24,000, silver/black, (you know the one) reputed to be a driver but turned out to be pretty much immaculate, all history there, big service done, etc. For those watching and waiting, I don't think we've seen the bottom yet. As in Real Estate, the middle range is taking the biggest hit. For anyone shopping for one of these cars, 70-80,000 is real money.
