I cannot decide whether to get a 997t (brand new) or a 2005 360 spider. I am aware that the 997 has incredible performance but am not sure if thats all I want. Any suggestions for me

I would try to find a well maintained 2005 F430 Coupe for almost the same money...

They're different cars, so I should think it depends on what are you looking for? Looking at your profile, you seem to have had both Porsches and Ferraris; so I'm surprised that it's that vague a choice.

It's apples and oranges. Are you going to drive it in the winter? What are you going to do with either car?

TT is kind of ordinary, good daily driver. Boring compared to the GT3/RS. Not my first choice in Porsche, unless planning for four season driving.

i would suggest to decide what type of car you want for what purpose... Then within that decision, come back and ask for tips..

A 997T is much different and much more practical (being the sport car with the best mpg.)
It is a better performer than the 360 stock for stock.. cheaper to own and probably easier to sell.

You can daily drive a 360, but it will depend on your own lifestyle and habits..

997T is a better option overall (for an intelligent shopper), but if you dont need too much practicality and have the means of maintaining a fairly recent Ferrari, then get the 360 by all means.

The Ferrari experience is always "Worth it" as long as you can actually afford it.

If you really are considering a 2005 360 I would get a 2005 430. Much more car for not much more money. If the choice is just 360 v 997tt then get a more fully depreciated 360....say a 2002 which is well sorted.

Realize if you get a 360, and I love mine, you are dealing with basically 10 year old technology!

FWIW when I was in your boat I spent more money to get a considerably older and slower car then the 997TT I was looking at at the time....and I could not be happier!!

I've owned both. Sold the TT to buy my second 360. Also, I have posted in prior threads some detailed comparisons. Might be worth a search.

in 10 years technology has not changed that much since I commonly see hard driven modenas hang with gallardo's on any decent track.. that is why my decision between the two is so difficult.. both are plenty fast enough for me.. but which will I enjoy more?

You will enjoy more the Ferrari even when is way slower than the 997TT.

Oh I see, anyway I had both the Gallardo and 360 and that is one tough call if you're not a Ferrari man. The 360 is more fun, but the Gallardo is faster. The Gallardo is like a 997TT, but with exotic looks.

Try driving both. You'll know right away. The Porsche is more practical and quicker, but the 360 spider probably rates higher on the fun factor scale. The Porsche is also considerably cheaper to maintain if that's in your consideration criteria.
