    1. I, and many others, would be upset if it was any car. If someone pissed on my Camry, I'd be just as enraged. The people may not have gone to the same lengths otherwise, but that doesn't change the moral violation behind the act.

    2. It's not the results of the action that are upsetting, but the intent of the act itself. What exactly was Gibby trying to accomplish? You can't rationalize marring someone's property because there is absolutely no benefit to either party involved. It's a diabolical act, IMO.

    3. He is an adult, not a kid. I am a year older than him and I couldn't fathom urinating on someone's car, and if I DID, I would apologize and try to make right what I did wrong.

    4. I don't think those threats were serious. The idea is that the act was contemptible. Contemptible acts incite rage in people because we always relate ourselves to the victim. "What if that was MY car??"

    5. This whole situation, as big as it's gotten, is probably just what the guy needed. What is the penalty for pissing in public? A slap on the wrist? A small fine? That's not going to change anyone's behavior too quickly. This situation will hopefully help him to realize how his actions affect others. Nobody wants to lynch him or ruin his life. We just want him to acknowledge his mistake and we can all move on.

    I agree wholeheartedly.

Exactly. I have been a car nut since I was a kid. We had a '72 Ford LTD (that my parents bought new when I could hardly control my pee) and I drove it through college. I had a hand-me-down Olds 98 Regency DIESEL (what a POS) through medical school. I then drove a Chevy Cavalier with no AC, no radio, and no headliner through most of residency. The first car my wife and I bought was a Ford Windstar minivan. Then I bought an old Ford pickup, because we needed the utility. We later sprung for a new Honda Odyssey back when they were selling at over MSRP and you had to be on the list (we actually had people crawling over the thing when it came in because they just were not available). It was not until a few years ago that I had anything that any car nut would be remotely proud to own.

But at no point in my life have I ever wanted to piss on, key, or otherwise deface anyone else's car. When I see someone else with something exotic that I will never afford, it doesn't make my envious or feel animosity toward the owner because they have been successful or fortunate or whatever. I respect and appreciate what they have done, and I enjoy looking and listening and learning. It is only inspiration for me to try to make the most of what I have, to continue to work hard.

The pissing isn't the point, it's the attitude.

Absolutely. I shudder to think what the reaction would have been if the victim had not been a 360 but instead P4/5. Or a Daytona Spyder. Or a GTO.

It's all about an absence of respect for other people. Total self-absorption. Just because we like cars, we don't expect you to drop a mat in front of our car and worship it.......but we have every right to expect you to leave it the frak alone.

This incident did not begin with inebriation, nor with a camera, nor with a need to urinate. The whole thing, every single event that has taken place here, began with one person believing 'it's just a car'.

We retired "ol' Sparky", you know .......Florida had that problem with the guy's head catching on fire......., anyway we had the Supreme Court confirm the poison injection is "humane" so we are back to "rackin' em' and stackin' em"......

Some argue that's not an adequate deterrent.......I dunno, it at least stops ONE guy..

I'm here on this site just waiting to see a video apology in response to the video posted on YouTube. Gibby, if you're reading this, I think that what quite a few of us is looking for..... for you to own up.

That's the part that really troubles me, where is the actual aggrieved party?

There's more than meets the eye here, gang......lost the keys in the movie? Turn on the lights and find them? Need to move an immobile car, especially a Ferrari at risk in a high visibility location? My tow guys respond to me in an HOUR or less (faster if I use the word "FIRE!") Even three counties away from home.....then we have some sort of plate issue? Not the right tags to match the car?

No big deal the owner is not a Fchatter here, but b-mak has come up empty on reaching him, correct??

What the hell is going on with all this? Is the car STILL at the Mall????

I did like the RCP's comment..."gift wrapped investigation"....but if the owner declines to file vandalism/damage charges, realistically our perp is gonna skate, just as they bragged in their posts...

Also agree with "call for calm" from the UK.. thanks waclare...I still wish Chaa was here to sort them out, flying in in that bad azz black helicopter! Send him our regards!.

I will be stopping at the mall in the next hour or so. Doubt the car is there, but photographic proof will be provided.

I'm not going there as a tourist, I actually have to stop at the grocery store before I hit the road for the race track this weekend.

I think as usual the newspaper rather mischaracterizes our actions here, while SOME have posted some 'off the cuff opinions' of what they "would have done if I had caught him on MY car", it is not to be denied that the vast resources of our members here very rapidly traced the perp, posted postive corroborating identification, and contacted the proper authorities with the information....

I think the thing to keep in mind here, is that while we're angry that he relieved himself on a Ferrari, what bugs us even more is that he did it BECAUSE it's a Ferrari.

There's not an owner here that hasn't worked his tail off for his/her car, and we have strong feelings about them. We're also a little apprehensive every time we park them somewhere, because there's always a concern that some jerk will vandalize it. Gibby is that jerk. And he got caught.

Pissing on a Ferrari or any other car is of course stupid, but harmless compared to speeding on public roads.

Threatening people, calling their boss etc. etc. is even more stupid than pissing on cars.

The kid is a fool, no doubt about that. But the treatment he get in this thread is a disgrace to the Ferrari Chat.
