    Well you may have seen them put up impressive ring times but this one is in the top 5 of all times and none of those rust buckets are.. BTW, the worlds record on the ring was a Porsche 968 in 1983 at 6:11.

    A 968 is based on a 944, so it must have been HIGHLY modded....
    ....and I thought the 968 came after 1983?

    Are you sure you don't mean a 956?

    Either way you seem to be referring to a race car, we are all referring to street car records.

    That isn't the record though. A Williams BMW F1 car beat that just a few years ago.

    Heidfeld came nowhere near the record. That was a BMW publicity stunt and Bellof's record is intact.
    Stephan Bellof was qualifying for a race and hence the record. If he had survived his crash at Spa, he would have been great...RIP

    Holy crap I just watched that video. I got to get me one of those beasts. Heh, maybe Z06's will be cheap after this. I got to find a video of one of those. Love Vettes for just tossing around the track without a care.

    Not what I read....I read they ran the 'Ring a few times after and beat all other records.

    So who knows....

    Dumbest statement I have ever read on this forum.

    No, the F1 was not capable of running the full track, they ran on a section and he was not racing...merely driving it.

    That was one fun video to watch.

    Now why is it that Ferrari can't do something like this???? I'm sure that Schumi would be more than happy to oblige them by turning in a burning performance in a Scudria or the up coming California. Or HEY .......... even better yet, why not in a FXX????? After all that car is specifically build for the track, and what better track to let it stretch it's legs on than the Ring.

    Here's a great video with Derek Bell narrating a lap around the Ring in a 956 C. The speed he carries is amazing, but one of the best parts is when he gets passed like he's standing still by Jacky Ickx at around 1:40.
