    Hi,

Wow, you're on the ball! - I think the store only opened yesterday..... I haven't tried yet [I've got "issues" with the iPhone right now :( ] However, did you download 'em to your Mac/PC or directly to the iTouch? - A quick read of the site suggested browsing the apps with your iTouch and downloading 'em directly thereto.

Presumably, they then get sync'd at the next opportunity. (?)

    HTH, cheers,
    Ian

Downloaded to iTunes on my PC... I'm at work and don't have wifi here. I did get the low-down though. Your iphone/ipod touch has to have the new software (2.0) on it. It comes on the 3G iphone, old iphone users get the upgrade free (when it comes out) and ipod touch users get to drop $10 on it (again, when it comes out).

What good is an app store that only runs on a phone that isn't out or on updated hardware for which the update isn't out? Ugh.

You've got a point!...... However, in their defense, they've got to bring all this *really* new stuff up over time - Might as well debug the app-store......

2.0 should be released today or tomorrow I believe.

You did save me some time by highlighting the current issues though - Thanks!

    Cheers,
    Ian

I agree that there is a lot going on with iphone/ipod touch/app store/itunes right now... I don't even really mind the sepped roll out - It was just a little misleading this morning... "THE APPS STORE IS OPEN, GO GET SOME!!!!" and then not being able to do anything with said apps. Bush League. IMO.

The app store was up and ready to go at that time primarily for those 3G iPhone buyers in the Far East. New Zealand is the first place to get an iPhone as it makes its way across the world. I'm not entirely sure but I believe about the time you posted this the Kiwis were getting theres.

Of course by the time most of you read this reply iPhone 2.0 will be avaliable for first-gen iPhones, allowing you to sync the apps you having the waiting.

Alright Finally working again! Thank God I backed up all my info on both computers. For some reason, it didn't get me all my contacts when I tried syncing it through my PC. When I tried it with the Mac it worked just fine.

You, sir, should go and buy a lottery ticket right now...... ;)

    The Apple boards are demanding:

    1. Steve's head
    2. AT&T be investigated
    3. Apple be investigated
    4. "I DEMAND A RESPONSE"
etc etc. [In fact, as of a few minutes back, the entire "discussions.apple.com" site said "Be back in a while"......

Seriously, and I posted this on their board, I think they are once again "victims of their own success" - However, given the even bigger disaster that accompanied the initial release, I was hoping they'd learnt - People want these things *now* - I suspect they accounted for the "rabid-gotta-have-3G" crowd, but overlooked the gen1 users.........

Anyway, I'm gonna start a new thread advising anyone with a gen1 to hold off on the upgrade for a few days.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I went to the local Apple store today to buy the magical iPhone 3G. Stood in line for two hours... repeatedly asking if they had sufficient stock for everyone to get what they wanted... several people - one a manager - told me "oh yeah, we've got plenty, but we can't discuss exact numbers. Don't worry though." Well they didn't I got to the point where I was about 14 people back and the manager came out and said the black and white 16 gigs were all gone - only 8 gigs left. I was more than a little pissed, but I got out of line and left without torching the joint. They should hand out tickets to those in line that represent what they've got in stock. That way they don't have to disclose numbers and people (employees included) know what the hell is going on.

EDIT: and for what it's worth, I still can't even get the damn iTunes store to let me buy the update for my iPod Touch. The punks.

we have to wait nearly a month otherwise, and my phone died like 2 weeks ago. Im happy with it, trying to work it first!

I spent quite a bit of time checking it out today, I can't hardly wait to get one. But I'll be damned if I'm going to buy the 8 gig.
