I think it looks nice and could be a decent deal – or is it just me?

Black 1988 328 GTS on e-bay, tan interior, 44,000 miles, not all the books and records but some, asking price $44,900. But looks nice, except or the leather interior on the seats. Can that be fixed and to what costs? Anyone who knows? ABS breaks?

I just wouldn't consider a car from auto toy store because of past reputation and would lean heavily away from Florida cars in general.

New full interior is 5-6k. Only seats maybe 2-3k.

Different dealer. This is the Auto Toy Store in Berlin, NJ. That being said, I've been there and seen some cars they have had over the years. There is one car in particular (1983 308 GTS QV, Black/Black w/ 35k miles) that they had on consignment that was a major sh*tbox! I was surprised that any dealer would represent such a car. The seats were dry and hard as a rock, the a/c and emissions equipment were disconnected, there were no records at all, and there was some really crappy paintwork on the car. Oh, and the radio antenna was stuck in the up position. Incidentally, that car has bounced around from used car dealer to used car dealer recently and is now in the hands of a NY dealer.

But that was another car. Maybe this one is different... :)

If the seats are intact and not torn then you can have them professionally re-dyed for a fraction of the cost of new leather. They would look good too. This car is a late '88 so it has the convex wheels but no ABS.

They have the same logo as the store in Florida, = same company/owner right?

Just gives me initial bad vibes. Obviously only my opinion. I'd rather pay that (lower) price to an f-chatter with more history.

I paid above market to get the right car from a reputable dealer. Bargains are not really bargains in most industries...

    My 2 cents.

I really don't think the two dealers are connected. I agree with you that it pays to spend a little more money and buy a top notch car. So much less aggravation in the long run!

Patiently waiting for my car to show. This isn't it however.

Don't they have a blue 575 for sale also ? Check the 550/575 thread. Iirc, an Fchatter had evidence/ knowledge the car was involved in an accident. Nothing disclosed in Ebay.

    Hi Peter,

I grew up in the south and spent most of my time in Houston and Louisiana, with a smaller block of time in Mississippi, and Florida. I have been in Colorado the last 16 years.

I really didn't agree with the heat and humidity in particular. I saw firsthand what those conditions did to my cars and those around me. The coastal environment was also harsh on cars. My trim always seemed to be a disaster, and the interior on my cars took it very hard. Driving in the rain takes it's toll as well. And they were garaged when not being driven.

I'm not trying to suggest that you should baby your cars like in a museum, just that given a car from a drier climate versus a wetter one with the same mileage and price, I would lean toward the drier location.

I have had the conversation with several dealers and they also can see that logic.

Just my 2 cents. Buyers need to do what is good for their own personal situation.

I love to visit the south but I will never leave Colorado or the drier west after making that move. Thanks.

    Robb

+100 on all counts....stay away from Florida/Deep South cars, and anything associated with the Auto Toy Store. I wouldn't buy a bicycle from them.

Was living for a while in PA. I stopped several times on my way to Atlantic City at this Dealer.
Never was really impressed with the selection, most of the Cars came from somewhere and had no documentations.
A lot show and shine and storys on the Cars.

Thanks, and I agree. The deal went through, money wired, title signed over, truck picked it up yesterday, all done.
