Did anyone see the last two laps of the Chicagoland Race tonight? KB did not have the fastest car the last twp laps, but unbeliveably passed JJ on the restart by going the long way around with 2 laps to go and held it. Kyle Busch is absolutely amazing. 7th win of the season. His car controled slides are the stuff past legends were made of. This guy is something special.

Kyle Busch is the real deal. He's reminding me of the intimidator in the black 3 car back in the day.....

He does have amazing car control. As much as I want to dislike the kid, he is a phenomenal talent and he (and JGR) deserve the championship. I just hope "the chase" doesn't screw him out of it.

Kyle has incredible car control and can drive a car on the ragged edge 100% of the time. The most impressive race he drove this year was in Atlanta where his car was completely sideways at 190 mph for the last 20 laps or so while pulling away from Tony Stewart in a similar car .

And yeah Rick Hendrick must be regretting the day he decided to let Kyle go.

He also drove the car sideways (including the straightaways) for long periods at Phoenix as well. Really, he does that alot at most tracks. He sides swipes the wall numerous times on the exit at each race as well. He was off by an inch....lol. And then requests that his crew losen the car up more...lol

Don't forget that Toyota is giving him a shot at trying out in an F1 car. That could be be very interesting. Actually, if he is any good at open wheelers, that would be great for motor sports in the United States.

KB does have a serious fan base. If by some miracle, KB makes it into F1, we may actually see an interest in F1 by otherwise non-interested race fans.

Let me qualify my comments by saying that without a great chassis engineer, without a great engine guy, KB would be another Robby Gordan. Give the kid credit, but the Gibbs people are just fantastic.

I'd love to see Kyle in an F1 car. His big bro Kurt drove a champ car a few years back and did fairly well. But...no way will KB (or any NASCAR driver) be switching to F1...they can't afford the paycut!

As a top F1 driver, he would be doing quite well financially, compared to NASCAR. Jeff Gordan is not typical of NASCAR paychecks. I would hope that any driver makes a move to another series for the challenge, not for the money.

Except for JPM, who was just out of a job.

He has a good chance of winning the championship this year, and with all of the fame or infamy he has, he would bring a lot of viewers to F1 from Stateside. I'm sure he will be reeling in all of those endorsement deals.

He might like the restrictions though. He likes to drive anything and everything.

Sorry, I meant to say that he might not like the restrictions that being a F1 driver places on him. He would not be allowed to compete in the GP2 race that takes place before the F1 race, for example.

You, know....I'm one of those guys who used to think that turning left all the time must be easy. Then I see some drivers like Montoya, Hornish, Franchitti, etc, come into NASCAR and more or less flop. Those boys at the front are damn good. I'd really like to see some of them go against the grain and go open-wheeled, just to see how they do there.

What some people forget is that NASCAR is just a different form of motor sport, not any less difficult than the beloved F1. I keep saying that drafting at 200MPH for 500 miles is much more difficult than a quick lap around Monza, and it really is.

A lot of Nascar driivers started in go karts . J Gordon, Newman,Yeley,Stewart and Kahn came up through USAC sprint ,midget and triple crown series. Although some might not agree with this, they are open wheel cars with high power to weight ratio and in some cases more than 800 hp.

In Jeff Gordon's case he did want to start in Champ Cars but nobody wanted to hire him because he didn't come up through the traditional open wheel ladder of Atlantics and Indy Lights.

IMO with enough seat time guys like Gordon and Stewart could've done very well in F-1. It's a shame that when Gordon got high praise after he drove the Williams at Indy, he didn't want to pursue the opportunity any further.

Ever driven a Sprint or Midget car on a dirt track? Nothing will teach you better car control then that experience. I remember my first attempt at driving one of those at Ascot many years ago. Wow!

Gordon stayed in Nascar because he was under contract at the time and he realized that a Nascar career lasts a lot longer than an F1 career. Follow the money...
