My buddy and I were out filming runs at California Speedway today, and a SN95 Cobra with 600+ RWHP lost it at about the 1000ft mark, almost hit the Fox Body Stang next to him and then recovered :uh oh: Here is the video for anyone that wants to see the almost carnage. Watching it in real time I thought for sure he was going to tag the other car or the wall .

A brief moment of bad driving followed by several long moments of incredibly good driving. Good job.

Looks like the fox body was winning so the black stang had only one alternative. Take him out.

What was the bad part? Looks like he lost traction going into third gear. It happens....

I was thinking the same thing. Kudos for not crashing that thing.

Yeah, I was thinking the original breaking loose on the later gear shift was the bad part of the driving. Hundreds of drivers, with even more powerful cars, finesse that shift so that it doesn't break loose as badly - or at least stays straight (even on the same side of the track and on the same day). I don't claim to be an expert on it, just thought the amount of drama that far down the track doesn't happen that often.

You don't "finesse" shifts when you drag race. In many cases you power shift (don't lift off the throttle). Even though tracks are sticky, you can still break the tires loose. It happens, I've had it happen as well. Luckily not that bad though!

Yeah that was an awesome save, I bet he lost a litre of sweat during those 5 seconds.

I know the driver of the black car and his hands were definitely shaking pretty good afterwards. I talked to the owner of the grey fox right afterwards too and he was the same way. I still can't believe he saved it. I think if he had even tapped the breaks he would have been into the wall....

Who knows if another car might of spit some fluid down at the end of the track on the top end. To say it was entirely the drivers fault could be false and could be true. Whats the SN95's setup?

Remember, this stuff isn't covered by your insurance. If the silver car was totaled that would be it.
