To much speculation, but for now, at least your opinion can be heard. A poll, where do you think Alonso will drive in 2010 and beyond.

I think that it depends on Kimi to a large extent. If Kimi does decide to retire at the end of the next season (as he said he might), then there will be a fair chance of seeing Alonso in Ferrari. If not, then I think Ferrari will stick to Kimi.

My belief is that Alonso will be at a team in 2010 that will have a definitive #2 driver, not two #1's. This #2 driver will be happy being #2, and not have preconceived desires to be a WDC. I believe that Alonso will demand this in his contract.

Having two drivers capable of the WDC also insures that the team will have an improved likelyhood of winning the WCC. Without that strong second driver, winning the WCC becomes more difficult, you put all of your eggs in one basket. If your #1 has a series of bad luck, you throw away WCC points.

Team managment, any team management, cares more about winning the WCC, than for either of its drivers to win the WDC. Unless you are in a struggle just to be competitive and have a big budget**. The WCC points at the end of the year determine a team's share of the F1 revenue. That's a big deal even for well financed teams.

Does anyone believe that Ferrari cares more about WDC than the WCC? Does anyone really believe that suddenly Alonso will give up his demand for #1 status?

I do not, I believe that Ferrari wants the WCC not so much for the money, but for the prestige. And to be able to womp McLaren.

**I am sticking with Renault or Honda for Alonso, Toyota a distant third.
