Technically the law is on their side... I guess you could go complain for the way they treated you BUT they were just doing their jobs and while your number plate means "ultimate pleasure", in their eyes it means XTC the drug...

I'm no expert, best to talk to a lawyer/get legal advice but I don't like your chances as its a one off.

    Good luck!

This is what they would have trouble proving, wouldn't they? - "reasonably suspect"

Just take it as an eye-openner.

Consider yoursef lucky you got the fairly honest ones.
A crook like Rogerson would've found some and there'd be little you could do then.

During the last govt their powers have expanded beyond most peoples expectation, until its done to them.
We need a bill of rights in this country.

Have u any sort of record?

Reason is they would have know all about u and your police "history" [if any] b4 pulling u over by doing a #-plate history check ["set of usuals"].

Not wanting to upset you, but now your on the police data base too....

Bit over the top, but they did nothing wrong, and acted inside the law, so u got nothing on them.

Sux i know, times we live in, get over it move on, its a police state after all.

    Ciao

Nasty story Andre! Best approach is to seek legal advice and go from there. :):)

It may result in pissing against the wind though. Those Cops can do almost anything and get away with it. Scumbags! :(:(

He must be one of those guys that "looks" like a criminal. :p:p

Have a mate here that gets picked on like that. Nice guy, but he actually does drink and smoke cigarettes. TOTALLY against drugs, like Andre and I. A Cop told my friend once, 'you have the face of a criminal, which is why we are searching your car'.:eek:

    Pole smokers mate! :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I guess its a sign of the times, or 'deprived' cops chasing 'flash' cars with interesting plates. Like here there is a car with PIG B8, wonder how many times been stopped and in UK there was FU 2. Not condoning what happened at all but sometime cops get bored like the rest of us and as they have 'the power' to harass, they do! Cant think you would get anywhere with a complaint except set yourself up for future hassle. You would think with all the serious crime that goes down they should not have time to play around like this, but thats far too sensible an idea methinks!!

cop's fav line is "you think they (court/whoever) will believe me or you?" they get away with far too much crap seriously.

but i guess its give or take, every where else has the problem. although in certain asian countries, polluted and corrupt as hell, but with money/power/connections you can always say to the cop "are you out of your f'ing mind pull me over? do you still want to wake up tomorrow morning with a job?"

I don't figure on their database in any which way shape or form. Car registered under company. Non Vic driver's licence, etc. There would have been ZERO history of any kind on the plate/driver/etc.

IF that is it, you want to tell me that if one would have MURDER on their plate, they would get pulled over on suspicion of murder?? I cannot see how they can justify 'reasonable suspicion'.

Tell me about it. I used to think that it was WA. Now I am starting to think that maybe it's the whole country.

Of course its the whole country.

Now, go and get a Landcruiser and Akubra.
You'll never see another cop, baring speed traps.
    You become invisible.

had plenty of these sort of things happen to me in QLD back in the 80s .... law unto themselves and could have you locked up in the looney bin getting drugs injected into you to keep you quiet.

The number of deaths in custody in QLD watch-houses in the 80s was horrendous, and if you were black the rate of deaths went even higher.

Even a few years back I was coming down from Mt Cootha and the cops stopped me on "suspicion of speeding" , no proof, then went over the car and me with a fine tooth comb during which time I happened to mention that the Fitzgerald inquiry has done nothing to improve the police attitude which bought a swift response that I was a troublemaker (since when were the cops that smart  ) and they just might "find" something wrong with the car.

I feel sorry for the cops that have to do domestics and such but the harrassing of people is really getting over the top when they will haul people over on "suspicion" and then proceed to give them a hard time because they can and you have no recourse.

Ask Ash what we did wrong at Liverpool when 8-10 hwy patrol cars pulled us over and continually gave me a hard time while the clowns in the background were laughing at their dumb mate because he couldn't get me to convict myself for so-called speeding...... arseholes the lot of them and told him to stop videoing the episode if I remember correctly ..... then they'll give you the sad sob story about how they are saving your life because of all the road accidents they attend and that this fine is better than the death I am facing ... FO, go preach to the 18-22yo DHs in the rice mobiles or bugger commonwhores lowered to the ground drag racing each other.

I'm with you on this Andercorp, it's wrong and they shouldn't get away with it ... but they will

Isn't he living in Qld now. :D

Like the speed camera operators, a couple being taken out might just change their attitude. Sure if you've done something wrong, you deserve that sort of treatment, but when driving happily along abiding by the laws its wrong IMO.

I think most coppers do a good job and don't have a chip on their shoulders. As mentioned before my business has been broken into a few times and they have always been fast to respond and help. There are few though again IMO opinion who were probably bullied at school and are now taking out their revenge on innocent people. At some point the community will revolt against this type of behaviour.
