QUESTION 1 I've been having a problem with my A/C system for a few years now. Occasionally, the stopped working for no apparent reason and then starts working again. Yesterday it stopped working and didn't work again this morning, so I decided to investigate, thinking perhaps it's the hidden fuse. Whilst removing the front carpet cover, it started working again. Once I removed the cover it stopped working. I then tapped the fan housing ,marked "X" below and its started to work. So the problem is definitely there. I can't find any diagrams for that bit so don't really want to start taking it apart just yet and thought I'd ask here first. What should I do now? Could it be the fan sticking perhaps? How do I remove it? QUESTION 2 In the second picture, there are 4 relays. All but one has a fuse on it. What is that relay and do I need to have a fuse there? If so, which one? Also, is that the ABS ECU? QUESTION 3 In the last pic with the yellow arrow. What is that for? Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sy, I don't know about #1 or #3, but the 'missing' fuse in #2 is definately the ABS ECU, and a fuse is only put in place when you want to run the ABS Diagnostics. I'm curious about the other two as well...although, I don't think I have the plug for #3... I'll check, but I've had my cover out numerous times, and haven't noted it. Mike in Kuwait
Thanks Mike. Did some digging about and I can't seem to open the housing that contains the fan. I'm thinking it's a sticky fan problem. If I can access the fan, I could clean it up and wd40 it. The other problem now is that I can't find the hidden fuse???? Was it placed elsewhere on the later models perhaps?
Take a look at my thread about the fan.........guess it is the same problem. You have to find it yourself ´cause I do not know how. Give me a PM if you are in trouble. Good luck!!! //B//
Thanks Bengt This thread you mean? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=197795 Looks liek teh same problem. Do you know how he took the fan assembly out? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Taken out all the screws, but it aint moving. There's also some kind of tape attached to it and a pipe so don't really want to disturb it. If no one has any suggestions, I'll just put everything back together and get a Specialist to check it over. Can't find that hidden fuse either.
Never mind the hidden fuse if the fan moves at all. It does not move if the fuse is dead. Now take the "roof" off the fan assembly so you can see the fan itself. If you have it set on some speed at all it will start to move if you press the center of the fan......the axle/ shaft itself. If it moves then there is only one cure. Take it out and clean the coals and weld the pressed linings at the end. There is a "ring" of small screws maybe 10 or so that holds the assembly together. On the left side there is a "can" that has to be off and something on the front as well. Then it is "glued" close to the bulkhead. You do not have to take it all out. Just open enough so you get the fan out. Good luck!! Let us know how you get on. //B//
Managaed to extract it finally. Going to drop it off at a local place which did my alternator. Will post up pics soon.
Still can't find teh "hidden" fuse. I'd like to replace it anyway. If I'm sitting in teh car, would it be on the right or left???
Got the fan back all fixed. Cost £40. Have put it back in and it works. But still can't find that ****ing hidden fuse. Here's the pictures. Can anyone spot it????? I'm calling it a day on this one. Have to get everything put back as I need the use of the car. So will leave the hidden fuse for another day.
I've been looking for something else based on this picture. I was going to replace those fuses anyway, even thopugh I wasn't sure what they were for. Thanks again Bengt Image Unavailable, Please Login
In the picture posted by Angelis, there are two relays on their own. What do these control????? I was trying to add Stabilant 22 to all connections and broke a wire on one of these. I soldered it back and everything in the car seems to function BUT I am still a bit nervous as I have yet to find out what these do. It was nice of Ferrri to not have any mention of this part of the electrical system in the owners manual eh? Dealers must love it. Thanks for your help. Greg
I believe you will find that those two relays are as shown here, on page I10 of the shop manual: #11: "Cooler/heater unit fan control relay" #12: "Compressor control relay" See also figure 8, page L29, wiring diagram for air conditioning system, items 67 & 68, "relay for electromagnetic clutch" and "relay for evaporator fan motor". I thought that all the fuses and relays we for the heater AC unit when I started. As the AC unit is working, the connection to the relay must be okay. Thanks for your help. Greg
