Paul Tracy will make his IndyCar comeback in his home race at Edmonton next weekend.

The Canadian has agreed a deal with Vision Racing to drive their No.22 entry in the race, which is a one-off appearance for now with assistance from Walker Racing.

It will be the Champ Car veteran's first IndyCar outing since 2002 and he's delighted to be back in open-wheel racing.

"I'm excited about the opportunity," he said. "I've been away for a little while, but I want to be back in a car and this is the first step to getting back.

"We have a big job ahead of us but everyone is giving it their best try."

Vision Racing team owner and IndyCar boss Tony George added: "This entire season has been about going the extra mile to take advantage of unification wherever possible to grow our sport.

"This is a great opportunity for the IndyCar Series, and Vision Racing, to bring back a great driver and colourful character for, not just our Canadian fans, but for all IndyCar fans.

"This could not have happened without the support of the league, the promoter and the sponsors."

Sweet! Hopefully this becomes a full-time deal, if not to end '08 then for '09.

Probably just a one race shot unless PT shows incredible times. It'll be nice to see him racing regardless....

I dream of watching Danica get pissed at Tracy and kick him the "pelotas". Now that would be a memorable racing moment.

Then I hope Paul Tracy's wife would knock the crap out her. I don't like all that "Watch me act all tough and get physical, because nobody can hit me" crap.

Aside from that, It's good to see PT get a ride.

That would be sports highlight of the year. I'm just hoping Paul wears the mask and cape that he wore in Montreal a few years back

Edmonton could easily turn into a trailer park circus now.

I'm putting my money on Marco. Neither will back down to the other.
If I had to pick a second choice, I'm going with Viso.

If these two come remotely close to one another, there will be some very interesting things said by both drivers. Especially is PT feels he came out on the wrong end of the deal.

No doubt in my mind this is the way it will be. I'm happier to watch this one on TV so I can see all the instant replays.
Should we start a Yellow Flag Pool?
