I love the pictures of Ronnie, Ludwig, Winklehock and Stommelen. Check out the Daytona as well. Best shot, the one above the Karrosell, brings back memories of my laps with the late Tony Brise.
I take it you're not playing PS3 or XBox360. Easy recognizable if you drive "GT4" or "Forza". I forgot the name of the little town, but behind the right turn down at the bottom of the valley is a little town and the track goes right "through" it. Further up the valley past the 2nd part you can see on the picture is where Lauda had his accident. The credits of GT4 had a helicopter flight over parts of the track and this particular section is clearly visible.
Did you know that there are actually two "carousels"? The famous one and another one, "just" a half turn but similar banking?
Didn't know this, thanks for the info. Someday I will pay the $$ and drive this circuit when there isn't someone there in some supercar that would eat me alive.
I wanted to do just that this year, but then realized the serious $$$ you need to dish out: No, not for the track, but for a race rental car: Regular rentals are illegal on the track and according to some FChatters they won't let you on or if something happens, you bought the farm. But there are local companies that rent a souped up Beemer for the track, but boy it costs quite a bit to do that lap. So no Nordschleife for me this year; I'll opt for the Avus ring instead.
What if I take Eurpean delivery of a BMW? Do you know if they would let me take that on the track or no because it's not Euro spec?
I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be an issue. Many people do that in fact. My buddy was supposed to pick up his new Daimler and that would have been our vehicle for the track this year, but I guess the current economy stopped that from happening.
Quite a few '70s pics in the pace 3 sections of the Red Bulleton. http://www.redbulletinf1.com/#/?sectionType=magazine§ion=magazine
Ok I missed the 70-89 cut off by a month, but liked these 2 pics from the Texas Can Am race November 69. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Please, I am in love, so I have spent way too much time in that arena than looking for more old photos.
Ah, amour.....the "curse". Much worse than motorsports Ron, LOL Sit down with a BIG cup of coffee or a TALL beer and look through this...http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/pc/m...isplay/13188719 Absolutely fascinating stuff for older fans....
Just really followed this thread after seeing the newsletter. Fantastic shots! As long as you are going through all this work, please get some help or some software that will preprocess the pictures and then sharpen them for viewing on the internet. As good as they are, they could be presented with full impact in this medium. They are frequently too small and always fuzzy. 320 is too small, 640 just practical, 800 is a pretty good maximum for these shots. All should be sharpened to some degree after reduction and before posting. It would be useful to go back and redo the earlier posts. PhotoShop can do it but the software is expensive and dificult to learn. PhotoStudio by ArcSoft is cheaper and easier to learn. Attached is a rework of an early shot. There is a difference.
