probably becuase they threw in an 30k belt change. Don't see any reason for 348/355's to be rising, especially in todays downturn market.

Better to pick up the older 12 cylinder jobs and carry them fwd.

Certainly if USD continues to get devalued and inflation picks up, you'll see the 348 and all Ferraris rise in price.
I suspect they'll continue to go down for a while longer and then start to quickly rise.
Remember when 365 GTB/4 Daytona cars in good condition were $125k - $150k? It was only like 5 years ago I think.
Now, those same Daytona coupes are in the $325k - $375k range.

It would not surprise me to see nice 348s going for $90k+ in 5 - 7 years time.

The sedans like the 400 and 412 have stayed at a very low price for years.
Also, the 308 GT4 always seems to hover in the $25k - $35k range.

The later cars have all pretty much only gone down (so far). The 456 GT is one of the largest drops.
So, the 360, 456, 550, and 575M are too young to have done anything else yet.
The 550 is getting close to the bottom of its price range.
The 612 is just now going down in price.
The 430 is just now dropping below MSRP.
The 599 is no longer getting very much over MSRP.

The cars IMHO most likely to go up in the near future are:
    1) 365 GTB/4 Daytona - even though they are already way up, they are way under the 275 GTB/4 cars, so lots of room to still move up some more.
    2) Boxers - the last hand-crafted 12 cyl cars, low volume production, lots of power & style.
    3) 512M & 512 TR - fewer of them made than the regular TR's, with more refinements, plus distinctive styling to both the M and the TR.

I'm sure there are plenty of people on this forum that know the market trends better than me, but I thought I would throw these thoughts out there.

I'm talking short and long term: jurry still out on the 348/355 cars in terms of depreciation which will happen for another few years, they haven't reached their bottom.

    but yes, just my opinion.

Yeah - but once that's happened, we can then drive our 348's and look at them in our garages in awe !

I have seen so many cheap 348's these days but then again lots of 355's in the $70's with zero buyers. The 355 guys are delusional. The 348 guys always more realistic and if they want to move a car they sell for less. IMO the 348 will one day be worth more than the 355. The 348 look is more classic to an era of Ferrari and the 348 will run forever and is cheap to keep running. Just about anything on the car you can buy cheaply or fabricate or modify the system. You have the last of the tuneable ECU's. With 355's you get OBD2 and valve guide issues and even on well maintained cars you never know if the guides were done well. With 348's you have the only big ticket item as being the gearbox for which problems have been solved and the DIY'ER fix is easy and about the most costly thing you will ever have on a 348 "if" the box ever goes. But even then every rebuilt box I have done so far cost less than $3500 in parts. Finally, as gear parts reach unobtainium status we can just make them. A few guys I have consulted with on their box rebuilds have done exactly that in order to avoid the Ferrari stupid money tax. With 348's we got 50 dollar clutches, 200 dollar gears, 150 dollar timing belts and 99 dollar waterpump rebuilds, 150 dollars for a box of brake pads all 4 wheels, ND tuner chips for almost free and a six pack of beer, and a deep...deep knowledge base. It does not get a whole lot better than that.

With regard to the OP, I think it's a decade too soon to look for price rises on the 348 or 355. Also the economy is in the dumps and probably will be for another couple of years, so even the current price levels factor in a very weak U.S. dollar. IMO, the 308 supply will get tighter, and nostalgia will nudge those prices up (for the early carb 308s and the last of the series, the 328). Those price rises will be slow enough that those of us who own them will spend our future "profits" on service costs.

I agree with most of this. I've been impressed with how 512TR values have held up, given where they are on the usual depreciation curve. Testarossas are getting into dirt cheap territory now, yet 512TRs with driver miles still fetch six figures. If they go up (at more than an inflationary pace) it will be interesting, especially because the Testarossa takes its licks for being a "dated" style. The 512TR price curve seems to contradict that somewhat.

I don't know about Boxers -- lots of them for sale right now, and the wedge look (Boxer/308/328) just doesn't rate as "classic" yet. I think they're priced about right now, in the low six figures -- pretty much a bargain for the low numbers made. Yes, they're more handmade than their 308 stablemate, but their maintenance costs offset this for many potential buyers.

    All IMO, YMMV, etc.

These are some of the reasons I will own a 348 one day. I love the hands on ability of this car and how raw the technology is. Not to mention the interior and exterior design is fantastic.

I'd also like to ad that the 348 people around here at fchat seem really cool. I know that when I buy and I have any problems that their will be guys here to help.
